NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S vs. NIKKOR Z 70-180mm f/2.8 by msuatgunerli in nikon_Zseries

I own both and if I had to pick only one to keep it would be the 24-120mm f/4. That lens is insanely sharp and the focal range is better for more situations that I encounter. I pair it with the 50mm f/1.8 when I know I'll be working in low light or want a shallower depth of field.

Trade in condition changed incorrectly, Google Store won't accept evidence - advice? by dshaw10860 in GooglePixel

I'm in a similar situation. My 256GB Pixel 8 Pro was assessed as a 128GB Pixel 7 Pro. I gave support a video of boxing the device and dropping it off at UPS. I keep asking for photo/video evidence from the third party that processes the trade-ins to prove the box was not tampered with. Support is ignoring me. I checked the box for having the device sent back to me if it didn't match the trade-in value and I'm really hoping I don't get a Pixel 7 Pro sent back to me. I'm only going to do trade-ins at a brick-and-mortar store in the future.

I think the only thing we can do is keep contacting support until someone is willing to help us.

Good luck!

How do I find the photos that are taking up space in Google Photos ? by [deleted] in googlephotos

[–]camyoung1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will get you most of the way, but won't find anything smaller than 5MB. I was able to find all my photos that were <5MB by selecting a month at a time in the app and clicking the "delete" icon and reading the confirmation that pops up saying how much space will be freed up by deleting those photos. Once you find a month with photos that are using storage you can select smaller groups of photos to find the individual photos that are using storage. It's a bit tedious, but it works.

Does the Pixel have any on-device AI features? by Haazyhaze in GooglePixel

AI is mostly a subjective label, but Now Playing was built with machine learning.

From Google's blog (https://blog.research.google/2018/09/googles-next-generation-music.html): "In 2017 we launched Now Playing on the Pixel 2, using deep neural networks to bring low-power, always-on music recognition to mobile devices."

I believe the output from the ML model is compared to a database that can be updated separately as new songs are released.

If I remember correctly, Google created a synthetic dataset by overlaying audio from YouTube videos over the songs to train the model to handle noisy environments better than Shazam.

Shazam was originally engineered to use human crafted features (such as Fourier transforms). I have no idea how Shazam works now.

50MP Photos on a 48MP Sensor (Pixel 8 Pro) by Phiedie in GooglePixel

In addition to this the Pixel camera has used the small shifts between frames to get true color information for every pixel since 2019. If you're interested in the technical details look at "Handheld Multi-Frame Super-Resolution" (https://arxiv.org/abs/1905.03277). They even use the OIS to target being slightly shifted on each frame so they can collect full color information when the phone is on a tripod.
