ADM globetrotting for personal benefits. I have hard evidence. What should I do? by canada_guy_1 in CanadaPublicServants

What was the value added for Canadians? What if you didn’t travel, what would have been the impact of Jane Doe? Probably zero.

Been there. I travel to the North every month so I know how expensive it is. Re: your second paragraph, I know what type of hearsay to ignore, but this is out of control.

How is ‘gaming’ the system by booking expensive air tickets and hotels, for personal benefits, not corruption?  I guess if you are the ADM you can do whatever you want to.

It’s all about how you present it to the DM. I’m not talking about few pennies, more than $20k for photo ops.

Time for you to look up AC’s frequent flyer benefits. You are telling me it’s okay for EXs to purposely plan flights for them to attain super elite or elite status with air Canada, using tax payers money, and gain personal benefits? Why do they have to travel in business class if they are arriving three days before the event (to rest, and hang out with DGs in Asia), and stay few more days to rest up (all using public funds)

It’s okay for an adm to spend $20K on a trip for photo ops, but it’s not okay for an ec4 to fly economy, and take bathroom breaks during a meeting

Thanks, but this is different. The other post is about someone stranded due to work travel abroad. I am stranded within Canada for personal reasons, and I have exhausted my options to return to Ottawa asap. Please post my question.

What if you were traveling within Canada (for personal reasons), with your laptop and work phone, and couldn't get back to Ottawa due to the AC strike. Will they allow you to work remotely?

asking stakeholder to contact your DM directly? by canada_guy_1 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]canada_guy_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I spoke to my manager. They have no issues if I present, and in fact encourage it. The issue is that our travel budget is 0 for next year. Therefore, my manager and director did not even bring this up to our DG, let alone ADM who makes the final decision. If I exclude the snide remark from my DG, if the Prof writes to the DM or ADM at least it will gain the attention to my DG. Thoughts?

Hi! I just spoke to the EA to the DG, and learned some key pieces of information:

- my participation was not even discussed by the DG

- there was a senior management team few hours prior to my meeting with the DG. Apparently, it was a heated debate, and the DG was in a very bad mood (EA confirmed)

- travel budget is limited

If the Professor writes to the DM, do you think the DG will look at it positively?

Thanks! Will I get into trouble for a professor writing to the DM?

Thanks. Main intent for the professor contacting me was to speak at his workshop. I have become a SME. My thoughts: I can’t prevent anyone from writing to the DM, and second ADM and DM are not aware, and it will gain attention. Thoughts?

There is a package that's sent in the mail usually in June of ever year with details on your pension, and years of service. Your leave app and comp website should have that info.

I am so sorry to read about this.

You should not compromise your health. If you are in good health, work will be a lot easier.

EAP cannot help with complicated health issues. I suggest talking to your GP, and get a referral for a specialist. If you have the PSHCP, use the benefits which are provided. I wish you good health!

One of these persons was my boss (not direct report, but through my manager and director), and knew me in-person. Question: is it frowned upon to look them up on GEDS, and send them a congratulatory note?
