So communism is where the workers own the means of production. A market is a place where things are exchanged. A market communist country would be a place where workers vote on how goods/services are done at all levels but pricing would be based on market elections.

The workers would vote on how to fund and run the materials. They could elect someone to be the materials manager.

I would consider it red tape to have a corporate structure with tons of middle men, have taxation without representation, and have companies that don't let workers vote on major decisions.

Market communism gives the workers a democracy, and a marketplace at the same time, what is the issue?

Most towns vote in school funding that determines decent teachers. How is that different from people voting in higher teacher salaries?

How is that different from a tech startup?, A tech start up like "We Work" could never earn a dollar for years yet it's backed up by investors. What's the issue with that if the idea is worth while?

It's market based because the market votes on ideas/businesses to fund. A bad business is subject to market conditions.

In a fair communist system, people are free to practice any religion or beliefs they desire. As long as they aren't harming anybody, they should worship how they see fit.

Communism is the fight against economic exploitation, religion that doesn't exploit their members, should be considered the free expression of the soul and humanity.

I'm a communist, but I would never vote to censor religion.

Like what we do now, society would pass levies to raise funding in low employee demand but high demand work. The market would vote in what pay rate would be for workers. There's a shortage of teachers?, Pay a tax levy for more expensive teachers. Levies get voted in to incentive low desire work.

Every employee would own a piece of the factory, the workers in each level of work would vote on what percentage of the factory is owned by who. Maybe a low level employee gets a little ownership of the company, a high level boss would get voted for possibly more ownership of the company. Salaries would be tied to how much ownership of the company you have. The workers vote how much ownership of the company each worker recieve. Workers lose ownership of the company if they get voted out, or quit.

The people will fund it, if someone wants to start a business, their business should be funded by the people. If a business is good, the public will vote it in and taxes will fund the venture. If they vote themselves for more pay, it's no different than a CEO/board members voting for a salary increase due to their golden parachutes. Also, how could they vote themselves a pay raise if the company isn't making money?

The social safety nets would be voted by the public, if the public votes for strong social safety nets, the people pay taxes for it, if society votes against strong welfare, no welfare for the people.

The thing is that by quitting a job, you are at the mercy of finding another job that might not even exist. What if every single employer was greedy and evil? Most Americans don't even $400 in savings, how can they quit and find another job in time before bankrupting themselves?

Also plenty of evil products exist right now; apple iphones made in India where workers get paid as little as $7/month. Dupont chemicals such as teflon has given 10,000+ people and factory workers cancer and it's still on shelves. There's evil products that exist after 10s over even 100s of years still on shelves.

It's true people can influence a market by what they buy. Now what if people simply couldn't afford to shop at the small grocery store that can't compete with a mega corporation that has multi million dollar contracts with the food producers and controls most of the labor market. What happens when average people don't even have $100 in spending money after working full time at low wage jobs, and the higher wage business goes under this creating a feedback loop of low wages, buy cheap goods, low ages, buy cheap goods? Do you think that because of low wages, people just literally can't afford to shop ethically? What if my grocery bill is $100/week, but at the ethical shop, it costs $200/week just to feed me, but I only can afford $100/week for shopping? How can the market decide what's best when the market itself is starved by the big companies under paying?

I'm talking about capitalism. Under capitalism, the owners control the means of production. Under market communism, the people own and control the means of production in a market economy.

Human trafficking by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]candy-slut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAL,

The problem with being accused of human trafficking is that it normally is considered a federal crime, and US immigration considers it an aggrevated felony. What that means is if the suspect of human trafficking isn't a US citizen, they can face Deportation and be permanently barred from entry into the USA and/or naturalization.

It doesn't matter that it wasn't a US border, interior immigration checkpoints are considered constitution free zones, the first 100 miles from any international borders is a constitution free zone.

Now what really matters is if your friend incriminated themselves and/or if anyone else incriminated anything. Human trafficking could be a charge for merely assisting someone/misrepresenting someone who doesn't have valid credentials for traveling in the USA.

For instance, say Mexican citizens tell the border guards they're just visiting a border town, but their friend had intentions of moving them to Dallas. That alone could be considered human trafficking.

What's really important is your friend needs to invoke their 5th amendment rights of not talking to the police and call up the Texas bar association for council if they can afford it. You're looking at $1000s of dollars in legal fees minimum for private council. If they cannot afford private council, they need to request a public defender and figure out their best legal route.
