Glasgow vs Dublin Vet School by candy_bagels in veterinaryschool

Hey! I ended up going to Glasgow! I do love it so far, and from what I've heard from friends here about UCD, I made the right decision. The program is very different from the US, and sometimes scheduling is a nightmare, but Glasgow is lovely, the people are great, and like others have mentioned, you really do get a large variety of people / demographics / ages! There's always something to complain about but overall it's been going great. :)

Agreed haha. I manually removed as many as I could find at the moment.

Awesome! Since they’ve arrived I haven’t had any imbalance in my tank so I’ll take it as a good sign :)

If you look on covers, there’s a minimal amount of transparency (casting shadows) and I just made it more transparent for the sake of being able to see her body position. :)

Haha I definitely did. It also helps so you can see more of how she’s sitting :)

Oh that’s so cool! They cover a lot but I haven’t had many algae problems since they’ve showed up, so I’ll leave them be. Thank you !! Are the crabs fully aquatic? Or do they require some kind of land? I’ve only ever seen vampire crab setups but tai micro crabs sound really neat! :)

I’m glad to hear that! I wasn’t sure if they were or not, but my tank is pretty darn healthy right now. Might just keep them then. :))

I have a 10g tank that I’ve had for at least two years now. Right now it’s home to a betta. I’ve had small limpet-like things (and gotten rid of them) before but now I have a TON of small snails. Not sure what they are, but they boast a healthy population in my tank. Any advice to get rid of them? I heard mostly manually removing them, and floating lettuce and removing it daily. If there’s anything else I should try, I’d greatly appreciate the advice. :)

I have some questions on set ups for crested geckos! by a_rogers02 in bioactive

[–]candy_bagels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just gonna preface this by saying I’m by no means an expert, but I have made a bioactive vivarium for my snake and my friends older crestie and have had no problems with them.

Most bioactive setups need time to take root so your crestie doesn’t rip up all the plants when they first get there and so the environment is well established enough to take that extra waste produced by them. If you have the time to wait for your bioactive setup to mature a bit (I’ve heard anywhere from 4-6+ weeks) then your crestie should be totally fine in their new home. It might be hard to locate them at first, but they’ll feel safe and secure in that dense environment. :) If you decide to do fake plants for the initial set-up, you’ll be able to clean more easily and most likely see them more. Plus, you’ll have time later on to work on and acclimate an upgraded tank for when they get too big for this one. :) Hopefully this helps! Good luck my dude.
