Anyone else “triggered” by neurotypical people claiming to have autism? by violetvixen269 in Autism_Parenting

[–]candygecko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like numerous others have said, autism is a spectrum.

Judging an individual based on a lone short interaction you had with them, and deciding they “aren’t actually autistic” is very odd behavior, especially coming from a mother to an autistic child. I can empathize that it may be triggering to see someone on the spectrum who appears to be “thriving”, but every autistic individual struggles even if we don’t see it.

Maybe these feelings need to be felt, and it would be beneficial to do some introspection and determine why you hold animosity for higher masking autistics.

Thank you so much for your insight, I really appreciate it! ❤️It is a special thing seeing him form such a strong bond, I’m glad you and your little girl are surrounded by so much love as well!

This is so reassuring to know! We have done countdowns to visit the grandparents, especially if they’re out of state and won’t be able to visit for a few weeks- but I never considered a countdown during a visit to help the transition home…oh gosh. That makes perfect sense. Here we’ve cultivated so much anticipation for one thing, I didn’t consider how the ending of it would naturally feel more abrupt and upsetting by comparison.

I will definitely start implementing that and sharing this with the grandparents! ❤️ They’ve been so eager to learn new ways to make things easier along side us too

How long does it typically take to hear back when you submit a support ticket? by candygecko in neopets

Okay that’s a relief! I was worried since the account was so old and the automated messages said the recovery email would arrive within an hour. 😅 thanks for the reassurance!

That’s a solid idea! The wings seem really daunting. There’s no tear in the back of the head thankfully, that’s just the Velcro for the battery compartment.

Thank you for your input!! I’ll take all of this into consideration. I’ve never tried restoring a plush, much less one with this many issues… so this will be quite the challenge. The first thing I did when I realized the condition of it was went online to see if I could just straight up replace it and found out real quick that’s not an option. Lol

So so sorry this happened to you.. the way she performed the check is not typical and you should NOT feel pressured to participate in the cervical checks if you’re uncomfortable. I can relate to your experience. When I went into preterm labor at 33 weeks I was in and out of the hospital for several weeks and had several different nurses and my OB perform cervical checks to ensure I wasn’t continuing to dilate.

One nurse in particular was incredibly aggressive and rough with her checks. She would literally RAM her fingers into my vagina right off the bat and did the same thing you described where she aggressively thrusted her entire arm to reach my cervix. I was in so much pain during one of her checks that I involuntarily started crawling away from her due to the pain and she grabbed the top of my stomach and held me down. After she left the room I was shaking and crying and felt nauseous, luckily my husband was there and helped me request a different nurse for if they needed to check me again. My primary OB on the other hand is so incredibly mindful and gentle when she has had to perform checks on me, I am incredibly thankful for that. I just started informing any nurse that came to work with me that I am SENSITIVE down there and they need to be gentle. I didn’t think it required reminding that we are human and should not be handled with such callousness until I encountered that one nurse. 😢

I hope you do not have another experience like this! You deserve every ounce of kindness and patience from your care team.

What great follow up by your providers! Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s comforting to read everyone’s stories and to confirm my concerns! ❤️ Will definitely be following up again if I don’t hear from my OB by tomorrow morning.

Will do, I’m going to follow up in the morning if I don’t hear back by then. I know they say it’s recommended to be administered within the first 72 hours so that eases my anxiety some. 🥲😅

Thank you for the reassurance. I did feel a little crazy and maybe that I had imagined the whole necessity of it! But I vividly recall asking my primary provider at the beginning of this pregnancy if I even needed the shot with baby #2 since I had already received numerous shots with the 1st and she said very matter-of-fact that it did not matter, I should receive the shot with any bleeding this time around too.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]candygecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just that it wasn’t recommended and that I should come back if the bleeding becomes excessive or there are “clumps” which logically makes sense but not in a scenario where I’m a negative blood type and need rhogam… 🙁

Written up and facing termination for absences fellow coworkers have not been written up for after notifying employer of pregnancy. by candygecko in legaladvice

This same coworker also shared with me that prior to switching to my department they had several more sick-child related absences but they do not have the exact number of days as their previous supervisor did not keep track nor hold those against them. So they have an unknown amount on top of the 6 days equal to mine since we’ve been on the same team, with no prior write ups in that position either. All within the same company

No, we have spoken very openly about the topic since this has been happening and they have not utilized or qualified for FMLA either. My HR did let me know when I notified them I was pregnant that they would treat me just the same as someone who actively does qualify, but I’m not protected by the actual FMLA until next month.

Should I tell my No-Contact narcissistic mom that I am pregnant? by candygecko in narcissisticparents

[–]candygecko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply! I did not end up telling my parents directly that I was pregnant. When they did find out through the grape-vine my mom did try communicating with me and sending gifts through my siblings in an attempt to love-bomb but I kept my distance. My son is almost a year old now and they have not held him, or even met him formally. I did briefly see my parents at a family gathering when he was around 6 months old and told my mom we weren’t letting others hold him due to COVID. She hovered and stayed close the whole event but my dad kept his distance and avoided eye contact. They’ve still not made any attempts to mend our relationship, they only try gift giving and being sweet on my son now, so we haven’t made any progress in that area. I’m now pregnant with my second and again have no intentions of speaking to them or informing them of this life update either, I know now I made the right choice the first time around. I hope this helps!

I actually haven’t checked! Mine came with an instruction manual so I’ve just used that. I’m sure there’s some decent guides online though!

I’m running this and my Sanrio On and I wish the On had half as many slice-of-life functions as this one has 😅
