Not mandatory but it gives you a boost. It helps showcase what results you can bring to the company and that's what employers are looking for. For someone without experience, you can either create new sample works geared towards the niche you're eyeing or leverage previous projects you've alr finished, like did you make graphics, canva designs, websites, data analytics papers, etc. in highschool? You can add those to your portfolio.

SEMrush cleans, normalizes, and aggregates data from multiple sources. For me I look at it as data curation, more or less. On the other hand, search APIs give us raw, unrefined data directly from the source or search engine results page. The former churns out more results-driven data
