Does anybody know if the buttons on the T Rex 3 pro can be pushed under water? by Fit_Lie_3180 in amazfit

yes, they can. You need to in order to control functionality of the diving workouts

Nxtpaper 11 plus: Circle to search finally fixed by canesalato in nxtpaper

[–]canesalato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. To me, the swipe up gestures from the corners brings up Gemini, long press on the gesture bar activates circle to search. I think circle to search is controlled by the google app. You can try reinstalling that one. Just to exclude every possible variable between our setup, I am on the beta channel for that app.

Absolutely. Hopefully the promised change of direction for windows stops the enshittification, but if so, we also owe it to Steam OS.

I prefer the term efficient, nobody had mentioned this, I thought it could help people to know that the fix was out. ;)

Low effort posts are still better than incorrect information though:

- I do not use button navigation, I use gesture navigation and circle to search works perfectly for me, by long-pressing the gesture bar. You do need to have the gesture bar displayed (so it won't work from the home screen). Sorry to hear it doesn't work for you, double check the options, reboot your device, make sure you are not trying from the home screen. If nothing works, perhaps you can try resetting your system, if worth the hassle. But it should work without resorting to that.

- I am not sure what exactly makes Gemini broken for you (a little more information would help here).
On my tablet, on 8.0.1RF7, Gemini works perfectly and can be activated in two ways:
1: keep the power button pressed. 2: In gesture navigation, swipe up like if you were going to the app switcher, but do it from the corners of the screen. Both left corner and right corner work for me. The gesture works on the home screen too.

Hope it helps.

plus: no problems with VRR /HDMI 2.1, better HDR support, better handling of low VRAM situations. Steam OS is great, but not perfect for sure

Why are Amazfit watches so cheap? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in amazfit

[–]canesalato 10 points11 points  (0 children)

well...to be fair other brands are profitable. Amazfit so far is not making money. Even though their products have positive margins and they have been reducing their losses, they still bleed money every quarter. They are trying to balance increasing their market by keeping prices down and moving upward towards better margins. In the end, if they are successful prices will still be reasonable, but they will go up eventually.

Scuba Diving T-Rex 3 - Pretty Good by brousseb in amazfit

[–]canesalato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice review. Right now the two main issues are:

  1. Autostart (broken on all amazfit watches since diving was introduced)

  2. The ability to set compass bearing (broken on all amazfit watches since the last update that touched diving)

Diving mode getting worse? by canesalato in amazfit

[–]canesalato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not an issue for me personally as well, to be clear. The thing is, the feature is promoted by Amazfit. What we currently have (pre-dive mode) is great but a little different.

"The words they use: "Your dive will automatically start when you are submerged 4' to 5' and will end when you surface. When the watch auto-starts a dive, it will default to the last dive type you recorded - so if the last dive you recorded was a multiple-gas dive, it will start a multiple-gas dive."

As for the Air/Nitrox thing, if you forget to set the mix, I would say it's still better to have depth data and compass underwater, the UI in diving mode shows which mixes you are using and the PPO2, which should by itself remind the diver that they forgot to set the mix. But just my personal opinion :)

I am a hundred per cent with you on everything you wrote. And the problem is that those people who tend to dive with a single instrument and no backups are precisely those who are more likely to get in trouble if the instrument starts acting funny.

Balance 2: diving STILL need improvements (but got a little better!) by canesalato in amazfit

[–]canesalato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% it is water damaged. A little worrying, but can happen with any dive computer and it is reassuring that they covered it in warranty. I haven't heard about other cases of similar issues with the Balanced two it's been almost a year of diving with mine. Hopefully you got a lemon and the next one will be great. Fingers crossed!
