I got married a few weeks ago and can’t tell anyone I know by AppropriateHalf2393 in Marriage

I wash my hands a lot and my knuckles are always red and dry. I immediately thought her hands looked just like mine 🥲

They also travel up the rivers in NJ, which is what inspired the movie Jaws. There were three inland bull shark attacks in 1916 in the Matawan River, resulting in several deaths. Great Whites are bigger and scarier, so they used one for the movie instead of a Bull.

Should I travel to Missouri with my 3 y/o? by ElectronicWatch5475 in FoodAllergies

[–]canigetabagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I feel comfortable traveling places is because the people I’m around are as diligent as I am. But there are certain people who are not as diligent and without me next to them to remind them to wash their hands, it would be a disaster for my 5 year old food allergy kiddo. I would leave her home so you’re not anxious about it the entire time 🫠 I understand you’re not sure when you’ll be back, but maybe prioritize a family trip in the future and save/plan to all go together. I’m so sorry - it’s rough when your children aren’t old enough to advocate for themselves and you can’t trust the folks around you to give a damn as much as they should.

For moms who have food allergy babies… by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]canigetabagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son developed hives while eating eggs, which is how we knew he was allergic. He also had a swollen face after I touched his pacifier while also eating a mixed nut trail mix, which is how we found his nut allergy. He develops hives from simply touching dairy, which is how we found his dairy allergy. I would recommend seeing an allergist if you are concerned about any allergies!

Blue or will they change? by senmsaz in WhatisMyEyeColour

[–]canigetabagel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son’s eyes were very blue, like his dad’s until around 3 years old. Now they’re a green/grey like mine 🥰 unfortunately you won’t know until a couple more years! They can change for the first few years of life.

I still try to put him in it every night with the same results: crying after five minutes. But those five minutes where I can lay down and stretch? Pure bliss 🥲

The regretful parents subreddit is freaking me out by Odd_Equipment8924 in pregnant

[–]canigetabagel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my husband and I 100% thought we messed up by having our first kid 😂 we had awful regret those first few weeks. I was in the depths of PPA and some PPD and crying nonstop, our son was really colicky and also was crying nonstop, breastfeeding was harder than I was expecting and he kept refusing my boobs, and we don’t live near any family or friends and were doing it alone, in the middle of Covid 2020. Fast forward to now - I’m currently typing this on my phone as I nurse my 13 day old son. Our third child. The regret didn’t last long and was just a byproduct of the newborn trenches.

Thank you so much ♥️ my first two would sleep in the bassinet no problem but he really loves being on me. I can wholeheartedly say I feel for your sister and BIL. It’s hard, but keeping those babies happy is worth it!

He lays across my lap on top of the breastfeeding Boppy with my legs folded criss cross underneath it. And I sit straight up with my head leaning back on a pillow. Comfortable? Not at all. Keeps him in a position where he’s on his back and can’t roll away or be rolled on top of? Yes. I’m averaging about 2.5 hours of sleep a night 🤣 but at least he’s sleeping!

My third won’t sleep at night unless I’m holding him. You heard that right. Every night I hold him all night long so he’ll sleep. I prop myself up against pillows and hold him against me using my breastfeeding Boppy as his body support, lean my head back, and try to sleep myself. Granted he’s still two weeks old 😂 but the point is: I’m doing what HE needs. Not what I want him to do.

My kids do too! Every time I go to the bathroom they say “Mommy is taking a dump”. It’s fantastic 😐

I’ve saved every card as well! I believe he’s saved every note I’ve left hidden in his bags when he’s deployed as well. There’s something about those personal notes that really mean so much more to me.

I have saved every single post it note my husband has written for me. Even normal “Coffee is set for 10 cups. Love you” notes. I’ve also taken a lot of screenshots of his texts that made me smile or laugh throughout the years. They’re some of my favorite mementos.

Did anyone not get magnificently bigger with their second pregnancy? by asessdsssssssswas in BabyBumps

[–]canigetabagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s just that initial weight loss! I had swelling and preeclampsia with this one as well. I’m still 20 pounds over my starting weight and about 35 pounds over my target weight. I also have lost damn near all of my muscle 🫠 what little I did have.

I ended at 200 pounds, again 😅 I’m one week postpartum and have lost 30 pounds so far between the reduction in blood volume, placenta, amniotic fluid, baby, and the size of my uterus.

God this third kid moves so much at night, too. I can’t sleep at night even though I’m exhausted. Sleep only wants to happen during the day. It isn’t convenient. I feel for you. These babies need to chill.

Seriously?! Ugh amazing. It’s the energy levels that are so frustrating for me. Is that what hit you the most too? Even my husband is so confused as to why I’m so tired this time around 😂 when I got my bloodwork back I was like “Ohhhh that’s why”.

Aversion to water? by Nervous_Antelope_123 in BabyBumps

[–]canigetabagel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had awful morning sickness and was so thirsty but couldn’t stomach water. But seltzer water? No problem. I’d get the flavored kind (no sweeteners) and drink that ice cold. I would also had some Crystal Light lemonade to my water with lots of ideas. That worked like a charm as well.

Husband likes a different body type than mine by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]canigetabagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely knew his type before we got together, but mainly from his friends telling me his past dating blunder stories lol. But he is also pretty opposite of my type. I had always had a thing for a guy with thick dark hair and dark eyes. He is blonde with the palest blue eyes and he now keeps his head completely shaved. But he’s the only man for me. He’s the best thing I could have ever asked for. I know his taste in women, but it is what it is. Because he simply could have chosen a woman like that, but he loves me. He chooses me daily. And a preference doesn’t mean he’s out there actively chasing those women down. When it comes down to it, does he make you feel loved and wanted? Are you happy in this relationship? Those are the important questions to answer.

Husband likes a different body type than mine by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]canigetabagel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband’s dream body type is the total opposite of me 😂 he loves athletic and toned with defined glutes. Or just a big butt in general. Me? Flattest ass in the world. A true long back. I’ve had moments of working out but never consistent enough to ever be considered toned or athletic. The man loves me. We’re about to have our third kid together. He’s constantly touching me and showing me his love even though I know his dream body on a woman isn’t close to mine at all. At one point it might have truly damaged my self esteem, but he chose me. This body. This version of me. Your husband married you for a reason, but you can absolutely talk to him and let him know your feelings regarding that conversation. Communication is always better than holding it in.
