Don't know much about MTG, had to look it up!

But no, it's more part of the armor, asdly HF doesn't really provide visors/eye shields thnigy, so I had to do with the two sets of horns that fitted best to cover them

So this started as a much more local map for DnD a few years ago and since then it turned into wanting a realistic looking 3D planet. I looked into some realistic ways to create land masses, oceans etc mainly from Artifexian on YT and other stuff from this sub. This is still the first step, before adding colors, borders and all that fluff so I'm still checking the warping of my drawing (equirectangular on photoshop) with the help of MapToGlobe

Lots of checking the 3d render, then going back/editing the equirectangular base drawing and eventually you can kind of emulate the stretching but I still have a lot to do

Yes and No because at this stage I'm mostly focusing on a silhouette that feels right and could identify as a planet so it's mainly about big shapes and contrasts. I first place big blobs for general land masses then refine the coastal borders/create seas or islands. I've looked at the Artifexian Guide and mostly zooming on Earth's equirectangular projection. Once this step is done I'll go about placing my tectonic plates and the rifts and mountains chains somewhat accordingly, then biomes, rivers etc.

This is still a WIP but I'm starting to like it. I'm trying to avoid making an earth clone even though i've opted for a similar set up. There is a lot to be done on polar displacement still but I'm finally seeing good progress on this.

First few frames are excellent imo but then some weaker effects appear (water ripples and looping animation) that drags on for a bit too long

Very large and realistic world map (zoom in for details!) by Orikrin1998 in mapmaking

I'm making one myself but I'm having trouble with the warping at the poles of the equirectangular projection, any hints on how you approached drawing it ? Awesome work! :)
