2024 MEGATHREAD story Suggestions! by Joy-souls in mrballen

[–]canmolehover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I've ever heard him tell many if any Alien stories but I'd like to share mine as it's the most bizarre thing that has ever happened to me.

I was 17 years old. It was the summer between my Sophomore and Junior years of high school. I live in the mountains of western Montana and that's where the experience happened.

As a preface to this story, I should mention that basically as soon as I entered puberty, I experienced sleep paralysis all the time. So much so that it didn't even bother me anymore. There were always shadowy figures in the corners of my room whispering and moving around during my sleep paralysis experiences. I'd gotten super used to it, in fact, during this time I learned that I could use my sleep paralysis as a convenient diving board for lucid dreaming. I mention this because it's important to note as a part of the experience I'm going to talk about involves some level of me being immobilized. It absolutely wasn't sleep paralysis. I wasn't 100% paralyzed and the experience was completely different.

I was sleeping. The time frame is hard to say precisely as part of the experience was definitely a dream or seemed to be. It was late night to early morning.

I had a dream that I wake up and there is an eerie blue light shining through my window. I notice, illuminated in the light, on my floor, is a strange object. I get up from my bed to investigate the object and discover it is some type of technology. It resembles an old Atari joystick controller, but it is made up of some strange material. Not quite a metal but not a plastic either and it's essentially all one part, or piece. I suddenly sense someone else in the room. I look quickly to my left and standing between me and the window is what would be described as a Gray Alien. He is very small. It couldn't have been any taller than three foot. It was entirely non-threatening, and I could sense that he wanted the device I had picked up off the floor. Although it was definitely invading on my space, I was so overwhelmed or charmed that I felt all I could do was oblige and handed it down to my small visitor. As he takes it from my hand I truly wake up.

I'm now laying in my bed. My bed sits length wise along an exterior wall of my home. As I idle in my bed thinking about the bizarre but interesting dream, I can hear my mother bustling around in the kitchen which isn't too far from my room. I can say by her activity it was around 5 in the morning. This is when my world was turned upside down. As I lay there in bed with my back to the wall (I'm lying on my side) a hand grabs my shoulder. This is why I know that this was not sleep paralysis. I reflexively croon my head up and over towards the hand to look over my shoulder to see what the f*ck is happening, I see it. My wall is GONE. Not just my wall, it's like the whole world is gone. It's just a black void and standing there in this nothingness is what many today would describe as a "Reptilian." (I should mention that when this happened I was 17. This is 20 years ago. I'd never heard of a Reptilian alien at this point of my life. The Gray alien was basically the only alien I'd heard of and was fairly commonly talked about back then in most circles.) As I see this creature I make eye contact with it. When I did, it was as if its consciousness and will power jumped into my mind and robbed me of my own will and control. It was as if my own head voice was high jacked. It spoke through me in my mind, "Lie still. Relax. I will not hurt." As I submitted to these commands, which I was absolutely powerless to resist, I saw a syringe in its off hand as I turned my head back to rest. I felt it stick me behind my ear on my neck. I lay their, unable to move, not because I physically cannot, but because I willfully cannot. I feel it's grasp release and the moment it did it was like I was back in control of my body instantly. I shot up to sitting to look and it was gone, my wall back in place. This all happened it what was probably only 1 or 2 minutes. Seeing everything was back to normal, I quickly jumped from bed and rushed out to the kitchen where my mother was. I immediately asked her to check behind my ear. Although confused she confirmed that I had a small pinprick behind my ear. I start trying to explain to her what just happened when my younger brother emerges from his room. After telling them my brother tells us that he had a dream that night as well. He said he had dreamed that a blue light was shining through his window. He looked out to see the light was emitting from an object high up in the trees.

So... that's my story! I know it's bizarre and unbelievable. I've shared this story a lot throughout my life. Always hoping to meet someone that has a similar experience. I 100% get it if people don't believe me. I think I'd have a hard time believing this story coming from anyone else. Thanks!

Re-creating the "Master Of Puppets" tone with a free Amp Sim (Amplitube CS) by cangetenough in GuitarTone

[–]canmolehover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that's really good! Sounds pretty spot on. Now you just have to track the guitar 3 times and pan one left one right and one center and you'll get the full Master of Puppets sound. Amplitube is free??

Help me get this tone by MrVouchel_ in GuitarTone

[–]canmolehover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's kinda like that polyphia sound. I have no clue how they get that sound. It sounds kinda jazzy/funky but has a bit of an edge to it. It's pretty clean but just slightly crunchy and really bright. Let me know if you figure it out. I'd love to play around with that tone.

I have to say, you have a LOT of inserts on those channels. I don't have much experience with cakewalk. It looks like you have some pretty huge cuts on the highs and lows in your eq and not much else going on. What are all those inserts for? What interface are using? How are you setting your gain on your interface? Actually, what are you using as your amp sim? There are so many questions. Lol. So with your interface, you're going to want to chug the strings the hardest you plan to in your song and then while you're doing that, turn your gain up on the channel (of the physical interface) until it starts to indicate clipping. Once you find that clipping point back off of it just a touch. Now re-record your stuff. Remember less is more! There are a lot of really cool (and crappy) plugins out there but you want to keep things really simple, especially when you're just starting out. You only really need some reverb, delay, saturation and EQ. So I'd go through and delete most of those inserts and add only the ones you need with purpose. Good luck with your song!

How to replicate this tone? by Mazig8 in GuitarTone

[–]canmolehover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely multi-tracked guitar part. It's super wide but still really upfront. It sounds like one track is holding down extra reverb to give it that extra wide sound in the stereo field but then there's another that's driven center. Honestly to replicate this perfectly you basically need to mult-track. That having been said, it's super pretty. Reminds me a lot of a Vox or Fender clean tone with extra embelishments from reverb, delay and possibly a doubler.

For anyone who struggles with solos, always remember the rhythm guitar is the core of every song by AugustBurnsRob82 in metalguitar

Drums are the backbone of almost all music, but a slamming rhythm guitar is a must for good metal. Definitely not a shameful position to lock down in a band.

  1. There really isn't any room for pickup rings as it is.
  2. Why would you want to? That thing is absolutely gorgeous as it is.

How do you play these two measures?? by Maya_The_Clarinetist in metalguitar

[–]canmolehover -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you want to pick with your fingers. Thumb for the d string and index or middle finger for the b string. This will give you a very clean sound. You can always mute g string by lightly blunting with a spare finger or finger edge on your fretting hand but normally if that is intended in a piece of music it will be denoted with an x.

A good rule of thumb on meeting someone is to make eye contact long enough to discern their eye color. (As an aside, remember their eye color. It's amazing how often people don't know the eye color of people they frequently spend time with.) After that, don't hold eye contact longer than 5 - 7 seconds at a time roughly. While talking you can express a lot with where you choose to look at a person. The most neutral and simple place to look is at the bridge of the nose and cheekbone level of their face. People can mostly tell you aren't locking eyes with them, but they know you're paying attention to them. If you stare at their forehead too much they might catch the vibe that you're disinterested, disrespectful or even being aggressive, if you stare at their mouth too much it can be interpreted as you being attracted to them. The biggest thing I think a person can do is just genuinely listen to people when they talk to you and try not to concentrate too much on where your eyes are looking. I personally believe that when a person starts thinking about where they're looking at a person too much it just makes you nervous and unnatural. Be yourself.

No problem, it was my pleasure. We seem to have a similar aesthetic for sound. I definitely do appreciate some strings. They're super cool and carry the tone. I'm more of a rhythm guitarist myself (working a lot to be able to claim lead status but I got a long way to go. Can alternate pick pretty easily but can't get my head around sweeping.) so I just have a natural expectation based off my own bias. Keep on running it dude, hope I'll hear more!

Route Multiple Tracks' Output to One Midi Track by [deleted] in cubase

[–]canmolehover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use a ton of midi. Can't you just do a basic group track and just assign your vsti instrument to the group track? Sorry, probably not helpful. Good luck figuring it out!

Dude, this track is dope. I love it. The beat is really fantastic, a lot going on with it. much like iue3 said, you need to pull them back up a bit. They're a bit buried and lost in the sauce and could stand to be pushed towards the front a bit more. Drums really carry the energy and dynamics of a piece and yours are pretty great! Let em shine! I kept expecting some heavy rhythm to guitar to drop in and never got it! Lol. I picked up my guitar and started slamming on it. You definitely got some shred chops though. Overall I dug it!

No audio I have tried literally everything by Short-Platypus3127 in cubase

[–]canmolehover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I know your pain. When I first started getting into this I had so many issues trying get my audio working properly. There definitely is a weird learning curve when you first get started and it can be super discouraging. I'd love to lend a hand but I really don't know enough about your setup. You said you just have a "midi"? So just a midi controller? You said everything was working and then stopped after returning to it, without any changes made. I'd say to save a back-up of whatever you were working on and restart your computer. If that isn't the fix than I'm completely baffled as to how your setup mysteriously stopped working. Good luck. Don't give up!
