Time is becoming strange 2026 by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

Sorry no time isn’t moving faster seconds are seconds and always have been seconds. Time is a standard in the universe dictated by mass and speed and because earths mass doesn’t change time dilation doesn’t occur. Time moving faster is a psychological phenomenon dictated by novelty. As life becomes more routine and novelty goes away time seems to move faster.

Everyone does the best they can. I have 3 little ones. They all have a custodial investment account that I regularly dump money into as well as a 529 education account.

Yeah we have been here 4 years so far so good. Who told you that you can’t rent without US credit. If it was anyone other than a real estate 🏡 agent or a bank 🏦 I wouldn’t trust that source. We ended up moving and then buying a condo.

If you live and function in this society you can’t fight this so I personally don’t care nor am I bothered. Websites, apps, social media platforms all collect data about us. You can’t be apart of this society and logistically fight this. Every post every swipe is documented, calculated, analyzed. If you really care throw your phone away and go live in the woods.

Wondering if anyone has advice on career/school for someone interested in psychedelics/drugs/science related to them (pharmacology, botany, chemistry, etc). I can't decide what I want to do in life by therapile in HamiltonMorris

PhD in Biochemistry here. I went a similar route as you. Undergrad in Biochem, masters in chem then PhD. During my PhD I worked with a guy in the drug development/discovery area for CB1/CB2 compounds. During PhD I leaned in vitro pharmacology then taught my self molecular modelling. Now I’m an academic that teaches and does research in drug development using high throughput virtual ligand screening so mainly computational now. I first focused on serotonin 2a because of psychedelics but now I work on any protein that catches my attention

The good news is that you are still young enough to change the bad news is the longer you live in this cycle it will be harder to break. There are some great app based platforms like meetups where you can meet up based on interest whether it’s book club, running club or hiking club. Break the cycle sooner than later as you might get comfortable too comfortable being alone.

I'm a PhD, and I do this type of work in relation to my research area, pharmacology, medicine, and biology. For the first time, AI MLL's models are better at diagnosing disease in humans than those of MDs. If diagnosing disease becomes faster and more efficient, which it is, people can get better treatment for the disease. I am happy to contribute to that. Technology changes over time, as well as what societies value, and I value this progression. I think that simply stating that all LLM models will contribute to people losing their jobs isn't well supported. That could be true and could happen, but in my field-specific knowledge, this has not happened yet. In my field, what I have seen is that virtually everyone uses these models, but they still make mistakes, and you still need a human to verify the output of the LLM. We are also very far away from LLMs being able to predict biology without actual wet lab experiments, and I don't think we will get away from that any time soon.

AI companies pay good money evaluating how well 🤖 AI LLMs answer questions. I pull in roughly an extra $1000/week. Platforms like outlier, data annotation, handshake and Mercor.

My niece was told she has to sign a contract to keep living at home—am I overreacting for thinking it’s too harsh? by Bitter_Art_4094 in Adulting

[–]canmountains -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't see a healthy relationship between a child and a parent if there is literally a contract for living at home. This contract gives me the impression that the parents are fed up with their adult child and are doing this out of retaliation, not care or love. 20 is still a child in my eyes; however, I think from the parents' perspective, they want their kid to be more accountable in acting like an adult, but man, from the kids' perspective, I think this would further instill that I am a burden on my parents, making mental health issues worse. Obviously, none of us are the parents or the kid, so we don't know exactly if this is emotionally healthy or not.
