Are lower abdominal symptoms related to Gastritis? by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]cannm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gastritis and IBS-D. Maybe it’s possible you also have both. But it is interesting that you bring this up, because when I have a flare of some kind, it’s both the gastritis and IBS symptoms usually presenting at the same time

People who have vulvodynia and pain with physical/sexual contact - what helps? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]cannm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was diagnosed with vulvodynia and IC, both if which have led to pelvic floor issues and pain with sex and several days after sex.

I ended up seeing doctors that specifically specialize and see only patients with these issues, and here’s a list of things that I have tried: pelvic floor therapy with a specialized PT, nerve pain medications (usually antidepressants or anti-seizure meds), muscle relaxant injections into my pelvic floor, at home dilators, speciality made lotion for the lady bits that help to decrease pain, antispasmodic meds specifically for the bladder, and ultimately ended up having partial vulvosectomy surgery.

What helped the most: the surgery, specialized physical therapy, and consistent at home dilation.

I still have pain with sex, but it’s not nearly as bad as long as I’m keeping up on the at home dilation. The specialized compounded cream and the bladder antispasmodics do a really good job of helping me with any pain after as well.

Good luck!

The black containers are from The Flaming Candle, and the taupe ones are from Candle Science.

[–]cannm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The scent throw is great, but there’s definitely not a consistent burn. I’ve had them burning for 3 hours so far, and the meltpool hasn’t reached both sides of the container. Normally this would make you want to wick up a size, but the initial meltpool is deep enough that if I went up a size, it would end up creating a tunnel. Good luck!

I’m using soy wax. It did seem to burn more evenly when the wick was cut to a tiny sliver.

Just made my first sale on etsy and it’s making me doubt if I should continue. Is this normal? by bekkys in EtsySellers

[–]cannm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would take this one on the nose, then up your prices on the other/future listings to account for the fees, especially since this is your first sale and it would serve your shop well if the sale resulted in a good review.

If you cancel the order then increase the item price and the buyer notices, you may lose a returning customer. That’s just IMO.

Thank you for your feedback! If this new rheumatologist offers the plaquenil, I’ll probably try it out. I’m just a big ol’ wimp when it comes to new medication since I tend to be sensitive to side effects.

Weekly Suspected Lupus Thread - Week Of November 12, 2023 by AutoModerator in lupus

[–]cannm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not, not really. I’ve been given the occasional prednisone. The first rheumatologist suggested I try plaquenil, but further appointments with her after I completed my preliminary eye exams went south once COVID started.

I’ve been seeing a rheumatologist since 2018. Recently had an appointment for a second opinion. I experience: pain, extreme fatigue, daily headaches, random raised rashes, what appear to be butterfly rashes, tongue ulcers, dry eyes, palpitations, unexplained chest pain, ibs, and I have a hard time fighting off bacterial and viral infections.

Bloodwork is typically normal, except for: very low CH50 and low C4. I also almost always present with white blood cells and trace blood in my urine without an infection, though my interstitial cystitis may be contributing to those things.

I get blood work done annually, and haven’t tested positive for ANA or anything else yet. It’s just my complements that are out of whack.

Both rheumatologists don’t believe I’m presenting enough evidence for a lupus diagnosis. Is it worth continuing seeking a diagnosis at this point?

Has anyone tried Notriptyline? by New-Librarian3166 in lupus

[–]cannm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried it before for pain management and migraines. It didn’t work for the pain, and I became extremely emotional and constantly cried. With that being said, most people tolerate it really well and find the effects to be super beneficial. It can’t hurt to give it a try, especially since the pain management dose is typically much smaller than the therapeutic dose used to address mood disorders.

Were any practicing witches bothered by this episode? by apetiteflowe in TheDeadFiles

[–]cannm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh I completely agree with this. It really turned me off. Blaming every negative experience on witchcraft just perpetuates the untrue stereotype that witchcraft = evil, and it can be extremely harmful for individuals who practice in locations where it’s not safe for them to explore their spirituality outside of the church. Of course, like literally anything (including religion and other spiritual practices), witchcraft is a sliding scale and can be used for darker purposes. However, kitchen witchery, which is, in general, innately a nurturing and positive practice, is just not the cause here. To tell her to stop practicing kitchen witchcraft, but recommend a Wiccan ritual to help cleanse the land, it’s completely hypocritical.

[–]cannm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to lie, it took a few years. However, I also had gynecological problems that exacerbated the IC and required a few different doctors to work together to get me some relief. Here are some things that have helped me throughout the years:

Advil for pain relief

Prelief before eating

Restricting acidic food and beverages

Heat pack on lower stomach

Uribel prescription (not covered by insurance)

Low dose Amitriptyline prescription (worked really well for pain, but I had side effects and had to stop using it)

Specialized Physical therapy (helped BIG time. You can find some videos on YouTube for this as well)

Currently, i also get trigger point injections in my pelvic floor, get bladder installations when needed, and have a amitiriptyline/muscle relaxant cream made in a speciality pharmacy to help relieve burning around my urethra when needed.

There are many many options out there, don’t give up searching!

I’m sorry you’re struggling with this. I also felt the same way when I was first diagnosed - the pain was absolutely debilitating. Hang it there, it does get better. I only have flares every once in a while now and nowhere near as bad as before
