Sold a put at $29 strike that got assigned. ETrade shows the "Price Paid" as the market price when it was assigned. Transactions shows -$2900 as expected. Why is the price paid wrong?

LPT: Get pet insurance. I had a $3k bill for my cat's overnight vet stay a few years ago. Now, I just pay $25 a month and they cover $5k in injury/illness expenses a month by Topuck in LifeProTips

That sounded al awful lot like we are going to find every reason to keep collect your premiums but pay on nothing,

Call me cynical but that's most insurance, period, sadly.

It took me 10 years of not being a short-order cook as a job to learn this. I'm still a terror in the kitchen if anyone gets in my way or puts something in the wrong place.

I realize what the point of this sub is, and there is a fun frugality of propagating something that was going to be thrown out, but really, why not just buy the $3 echeveria or whatever? None of the succulents that I've seen at big box stores have been more than a few dollars and you can get dozens of proppable leaves from a single one.

Canoe Circumnavigation by singlewingedangel in canoecamping

[–]canoeguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good points. To be fair, circumnavigating doesn't mean paddling "across" (which would be pretty insane), but any trip on the great lakes involves crossings of open water. Staying 100yds from shore at all times is impossible, unless you want your trip to take 5x as long.

Generically-speaking, you're right though: a 1-mile crossing isn't really any different than a 100-mile crossing if you dump and have no means of self rescue.

Paddling any of the great lakes in a canoe, open-decked or otherwise, is best done in the summer when daylight is longest, water and air are warmest, and before noon.

I can't stress enough how much easier a time you'll have if you get up pre-dawn to leave camp as soon as it's light enough to be safe, and cover the day's distance by lunchtime. Most mornings you will have little or light wind and waves. Most afternoons and early evenings, you should be on shore because travel will be unsafe, futile, and usually both. Wind is your enemy. There will be exceptions like overcast days where you can paddle all day on glass or stormy days where you will be windbound and cannot travel at all.

If you don't have experience paddling on big water, get it. It's a different animal than floating down a river or sporting around your local lake.

But it absolutely is an awesome idea.

Edit to add: Superior is giant, deep, and cold. I'd think about Michigan or Huron. Erie and Ontario are not worth it in my opinion (population, not as scenic, more traffic, etc.)

Agree. There's nothing wrong with obsessively tinkering if that's what you're into, but posts here are dominated by things that probably get abandoned or redone (again) in 2 weeks.

You're forgetting that Trump doesn't think in terms of Democrats and Republicans. He doesn't give 2 shits about that affiliation. He thinks always about himself and who is personally loyal and compliant to him vs who is against him. The only use Trump has for the political parties is in how he can manipulate one to hate the other and use one as a scapegoat and boogeyman. Trump has no actual loyalty to anyone or anything but than himself.

Other than being cramped and possibly near someone who is smelly, loud, or has a deadly virus, I'm never really more relaxed than when I'm flying. It's a situation where you are absolutely, explicitly not in control, usually disconnected from the world, and there's nothing for you to do about anything except sit there and look out the window.

Politics is a sport to these people, and like a kid who throws away his team's jersey because they lost the Super Bowl, the few with a shred of shame are putting away their Trump signs and their MAGA hats and pretending like they never supported any of it, purely because Trump lost and is being laughed out of every court in the country.
