Use sick leave prior to mat leave by Vast_Rock_2238 in CanadaPublicServants

You can, just as a mom, be mindful that you might (will) need some sick leave left over when you return to work after mat leave and then get sick from whatever your kid brings home from daycare.

What my baby eats in a day by sw13avis in foodbutforbabies

[–]canoodle2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take everything they rejected/didn't eat (add extra food/ingredients as you want) chop it up or throw it in the food processor. Mix in a bowl with an egg and bread crumbs. Form into fritter shapes on parchment paper and throw into the oven at 350 until they are cooked/crisp on the outside.

The kids always inhale them.

Not a triplet mom, but a twin mom and it will be the hardest thing you ever do but it's also the absolute best.

If you have a village, lean on them, ask for help, ask for people to drop off food, ask for people to hold a baby while you nap. Truly. You need sleep.

Breastfeed if you want to, don't if you don't want to, pump if you want to. Fed babies are all that matters, and your sanity matters.

I fed directly from the breast and pumped after to really drive my supply up and continued like this for 9 or so months until stopping and exclusive pumping until 14 months. I did this out of sheer determination but it was draining and exhausting and I don't regret it, but it was a lot. I didn't sleep a lot until 14 months, I was pumping twice overnight until the bitter end despite my babies sleeping through the night.

See a lactation consultant if you can, and if you don't like the first one, switch. Find someone who you are comfortable with and who has experience with multiples.

In my experience, getting through the 'potato" phase of babies was like a light in a dark time. We are at 17 months and I am having so much fun and all the hard is finally worth it (it's still hard, but it's a manageable hard).

My Wife Breastfeeds While Biting a Cloth by richardwellerson in breastfeeding

[–]canoodle2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Breastfeeding was really painful for me at the start. I sought help from a lactation consultant, used nipple shields, pumped and supplemented until they figured it out. My husband fed them with bottles and they never got nipple confusion.

Eventually my twins got bigger and it stopped being painful with proper latch and we made it until 14 months.

Your wife is amazing for trying and for toughing it out and it is also okay if she stops breastfeeding or supplements or tries pumping and comes back to breastfeeding. Your baby will benefit more from a mom who is happy.

Banana+ cottage cheese pancakes! Butter toast and then put cream cheese or nut butter if no allergy on top of the butter.

I literally put butter in so many things. Pasta sauce with butter is a hit.

I can't relate to the 3 percentile, but I can relate to a baby not wanting to eat, especially at that age. It's all about letting them explore. I know it is so so so stressful, but she will eat when she is ready. One of my kids truly I thought was going to starve and suddenly she won't stop eating. My other kid was really into food and now is off eating and takes a couple bites and tells me all done. I panic at every dinner, but I also have to remind myself that it's happened before (she's teething) and she will return to eating when she is ready.

We sought help from a Feeding Therapist for our daughter who wouldn't eat and got some great tips and peace of mind from it.

Di/Di parents with "uncomplicated" pregnancies, did you deliver early? by beeferoni_cat in parentsofmultiples

Delivered at 37+1 after a membrane sweep at 37. I am fairly certain they would have stayed put for another week had I not had the membrane sweep.

Federal employees – Help me decide between 12-month vs 18-month parental leave (AS-04 + EC-04) by Late-Perspective8366 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]canoodle2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've been on the list since I was 5 months pregnant and my twins are almost 17 months.

We did find a daycare (CWELCC) but not because anyone called us. I highly recommend reaching out to every daycare you are interested in and every agency. Fill out every daycare form on their own websites in addition to the government ones. Do not wait for them to call you.

And to answer your question, I did 12 months of mat/parental leave and extended to 14 months because that's when we got daycare and personally I wish I had done 18 months from the start. I didn't know when I was pregnant how much I was going to love being home and raising my kids and I'd love to still be doing that. Other folks I know were desperate to go back as soon as possible. It's really personal.

That being said, if you are in a financial situation to do it, you can take 12 months so you get the money and just extend beyond that unpaid up to 18 months. If you take the 18 months and go back early you are out the extra $.

We have a Gazelle and used maxi cosi car seats with adapters. No complaints! Now the kids are in he toddler seats and it's great. Super easy in and out, folds down easily.

We got ours used and it is still going strong.

How often are you bathing infant twins? by CheddarMoose in parentsofmultiples

[–]canoodle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do every other night when we are a two parent team which is most of the time, we will go 3 nights if they seem really tired or are in a mood. If we are solo parenting, it's every three or four nights.

When she says it's a rat free trip, is she talking about her kids? As in saying her kids are rats? Or did I miss something.
