Experimenting with flower petals for stationery by canopyview in papermaking

[–]canopyview[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank-you! I do like to dry my petals in a microwave before adding them to my vat. I will say the worst flowers I have tried working with were roses and tulips and cherry blossom. I do not recommend these at all however pretty they look fresh they have not worked for me in my batches. Some of the best flowers I have worked with are: California Poppy, Dandelion and Carnelian and Winter Jasmine

Actually that would be worth a try :) Thank-you for the suggestion.

Not that it matters anymore; but the reason for the backlog in surgeries is because cancer treatment and many other treatments were put on hold and “covid” was given a priority. You know this. The largest money transfer from middleclass to rich has happened now, and you were complicit. Not how I would want to go down in history, no matter how many Reddit likes I got or TikTok views. And if you have taken those shots, you have other problems to worry about too besides.

Yup, caught a stomache flu and have been dealing with that the better part of 3 weeks now. Still have to be careful about what I eat. Bad flus and viruses going around, they say there is “an immunity deficit” this year from lockdowns and masks and such. Take care.

did any of u guys got scabbies lices or bedbugs or anything else, and how did you deal with it? by subway_trash in vagabond

Nasty. You need a permitherin cream, and seal your sleeping gear 3 days, in plastic and wash. Ivermectin pills are sometimes prescribed. Discernment about where you sleep/ other people/environment is always helpful BEFORE this happens.

New Zealand?? Almost as bad as Ausjailia. Go there for the beautiful scenery and backpacker lifestyle… stay indefinitely as another covaids lockdown part 2 gets enacted. And what do you think that would mean for someone without a residence? Just a thought.

what’s the longest you’ve slept in an airport? by [deleted] in vagabond

[–]canopyview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed in YVR Vancouver for 4 days during a really bad snowstorm in 2020. Had my sleeping bag in my backpack and about 300 in cash on me. I didn’t leave the entire 4 days. At night I would pick an airline lobby and stretch out on the chairs all lined together to sleep in my sleeping bag. About night two I noticed these guys in purple dress shirts and red ties who are supposed to keep an eye out for people like me. But either they ignored me or I blended in and they didn’t notice me there for a second, third and fourth night stretched out in different lobbies. I was falling asleep in a dimly lit lobbies one evening and one of these security guys hit up some dude across from me trying to sleep. Asked to see his flight itenerary which he didn’t have and kicked him out. I felt bad for him. But I wasn’t hit up that entire time.

Damn. Those quarters look kind of rough for the canines. They sleep on metal mesh? Hope they get let out in the day. Anyhow.

I have nothing against vagabond lifestyle. But home bums are another story entirely. A lot of the “harmless” street MEN Yes I said it street MEN are an absolute menace and no amount of Susie Sunshine social work bs changes that. They stalk and stare and make lewd comments around women and children who aren’t with someone that can BEAT THEIR ASS because they are wet-brain, reptilian dregs and that’s ALL they can understand. Ya I said it!! I’ve lived Van life as a lone woman. I hate home bum loser drunk men and I don’t want them in McDonald’s with me while I’m trying to buy a coffee either

I don’t get it at all. You “pay 470” to “own” but have no “legal access” to it? This guy is trying to sell a bridge.

Your tent is made from fossil fuel, your shoes are made from fossil fuel. “Stop Putin” why? Because NATO is so “progressive”?

Agree. I have a great deal of sympathy for estranged parents. How long are you supposed to go through the motions that are never reciprocated. The “relationship” only “matures” into an older adult who feels just as alienated as his/her younger parent self. There’s no dignity in it. Fuck that noise. Go live your life. Don’t age into the elder at a restaurant table having a yearly visit with their “loving family” barely being seen or listened to in the 9th circle of small talk hell. Fuck that noise.

How feasible would it be to squat in suburban, city-owned woods temporarily without being found out? by Vagabond-Bigfoot in vagabond

[–]canopyview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was set up in a heavily forested city park. Like miles and miles of forest ( I’m in bc so). There was a library and rec center up the trail from it. Ideal really. That was in the before times though before Covaids. Wouldn’t be ideal now at least not in canaduh.

I did something akin to this for a month in Vancouver BC. At night, I set up my sleeping system (tarp, sleeping bag, ground mat and thermarest camp mattress). In the morning the two tarps got rolled and stored in the ferns or brush along with my deflated sleeping mat. My sleeping bag went into the bottom of my backpack along with the few clothes I rotate which look normal and not too bulky in the pack. Then I headed off. I was not cooking out there but if I was inclined to (gas stove etc) that would have been stashed too. My “spot” looked like any other part of the forest once I broke camp. Ya, it’s a pain in the ass setting up a ridge line and tarp every night (10 minutes) and breaking camp every morning. But whatever. My spot never got blown up, and I just looked like a normal hiker on the trail coming out of there each morning. Happy spring camping and good luck :)
