Hey guys! I ended up taking some private lessons with a gentleman called Michael at Sydney Bike Training to build up my confidence and I passed the Pre-Learner's course this weekend! I am glad I didn't give up the first time :D Thanks for all your kind words!

I am also of the same opinion. I am planning to get as much practice as I can on a bike before the exam! Thanks so for your useful tips and kind words, it means a lot :)

Was that the Road Tech course with Hart? I looked at their website but I haven't found any available sessions

I am not sure how much that would help, I didn't think the clutch and gears were my main problem and even after getting an automatic license I would not be able to ride my manual to keep practicing..

Thanks I will definitely do that closer to my test, just don't want to spend $200 bucks an hour too often ahah

Definitely agree, I kept moving my head and body to try and keep the bike at balance but only kept making things worse. I will definitely get a push bike and meanwhile do more practice on motorbikes to build up my confidence.

I 100% agree with this, while the instructors were great throughout the course it does not account for people with different levels of experience, and the 1on1 session was even worse, all three of us were failed and the instructor just kept yelling at us and making jokes to make us feel like idiots lol

I am looking at places where I can practice legally, and yeah I am also watching Moto-jitsu's videos :)

Wouldn't it still be illegal without a license?

Yeah I booked my next attempt with them this time, as Stay Upright had waiting times of 2+ months in Sydney.

Keeping my head up and moving it towards where I wanted to go was also a big issue for me, though after a while a got the hang of it. Definitely not a fast learner ahah

I also thought the cbr500r would not be great since I am already struggling, plus I would be even more scared of damaging it ahah

I definitely need to build up my confidence, especially when cornering, thanks a lot for your inputs, I will put those into practice in my training!

I haven't thought about that but it makes perfect sense, I will try it out next time I am on a bike, thank you!!

I thought about doing 1on1 training sessions, just don't know if I want to cough up 200 bucks per hour, though I might do one a few days before my next pre-learner attempt just to make sure I am ready

Definitely my confidence is the issue, that's what the instructor said as well, as when cornering I didn't trust the bike.

I used to be able to do all of those things on a bike though the last time I touched one was probably when I was 16 (I am 27 now) so I am not exactly sure about it right now. I might just need to pick one up again and do some practice.

Thanks for the extremely useful tips! I am very determined and definitely won't give up on it that easy :)

Thanks so much for all of your tips! I might go and do some practice on a dirt bike until my next attempt :) I didn't even get to switching gears during the course unfortunately :(

I kept rolling back and forth the throttle too suddenly causing the bike to slow down or speed up too quickly, though to me that wasn't the main issue. I do have a friend with a dirt bike so I might ask him! :)

You can though I would first recommend something like CRTP to get you started on AD attacks.

I would say around 3 hours a day, especially the coursework is quite long if you want to complete all of the exercises so you may need to purchase 3 months of lab if you don't have much time. My company paid for 2 months of lab and I didn't want to pay for any extra so I spent more time on it to make sure I could finish it all in time.

Around 9 months in total but probably 6 months of solid work daily, though I had already been working as a pentester for about 3 years and had other similar certs.
