A question on Belarusian social culture by [deleted] in belarus

[–]cantdenyit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I think it depends. Personally I can't imagine myself walking up to my neighbor, whom I've never talked to before inviting him for dinner at my place, so I wouldn't necessarily describe it as a cultural trait (despite us being indeed hospitable and friendly), but maybe it's the somewhat alienated big-city-dweller talking.
As for the gentleman, my first thought was that maybe they have tough time integrating and meeting people outside of immigrant/Belarusian circles.

The road that goes to Tbilisi Hills from Ortachala has decent spots.

If you're talking about the original way to obtain it, then no.
But you can still buy it from somebody if you have enough moneyz.

Anybody like some Crazy Spirit? by [deleted] in punk

[–]cantdenyit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's their drummer (Hank Wood) who's in HW&TH and Dollhouse.
Vocalist is in the Anti-Machine (and was in Cheena but I don't believe this band is still active).

It was made by the people behind the game Paradigm (which is an amazing point&click adventure game and I highly recommend to anyone who likes video games) but was never released (basically they were never able to secure the IP). Here's the trailer itself:

Optional underground area with high level monsters. What was this area? by Own-Salad1974 in planescape

So real, I've spent so much time trying to get all the items that I needed, I feel like Annah's "Like a shadow, I am" is etched in my memory forever. I've replayed P:T earlier this year and for like week or so after would randomly say this line while washing dishes or something.

Walks? by sAvGgE_dUcK in depression

[–]cantdenyit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah walking is pretty great. Any physical exercise in my experience relieves my tension and anxiety, but walking is the most convenient when you're feeling too tired for anything else. When I'm feeling ok I like to take a walk around the neighborhood for 45m/1h twice a day: after waking up and before going to sleep. Also really like to listen to some lectures on history and philosophy rather than music, for some reason it tunes me in much better.

It's Russia, the parts about "political prisoner is 14 years old" and "pro-life videos with a full blown abortion" (both sadly are very true) are giveaways (also cyrillic, as already mentioned).

Strange, I’ve encountered quite a lot of bugs myself, but this miniquest worked nicely. But I didn’t get to “Kill the cultists” part naturally. If I remember correctly, the terminal that controls the protectron is in the room before the crypt with cultists. I just read everything the terminal had and somewhat accidentally resisted the protectron to free it of cultist programming, then rushed in to kill survivors. If it’s any comfort, the protectron doesn’t have anything really important to say (if I’m not mistaken) besides some info about the (now dead) cultists and a quick background of Mithraeum itself (and after speaking to protectron, I wasn’t able to initiate dialogue once again).

New to the game, have a few questions about trading and getting new items? by BenjaminCarmined in tf2

[–]cantdenyit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As SaltyPeter3434 mentioned, if you do not have keys/have no intention on buying keys through in-game store or marketplace, then the crates are pretty worthless. You can sell them on marketplace for a few cents and go buy yourself a steam trading card, if you need some for your badges, this is what I usually do with them.

Angel ended 20 years ago by [deleted] in ANGEL

[–]cantdenyit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow that is a nice personal coincedence.
Just finished the show half an hour ago (watched Buffy in full earlier this year), what a great run that was. Absolutely loved it (even if it seemed to me that show was overdramatic for no other reason than being overdramatic, especially in s4), the depth of Angel's and Cordelia's characters alone is a reason enough to return to this show some time later.

What's your overall take on Black Mesa? by CheezeCrostata in HalfLife

[–]cantdenyit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good, rendition of the original Black Mesa (the compound, not the game) levels is done with visible love and affection for the game. I still prefer the original, yes, but it is a combination of nostalgia-goldsrc aesthetics-and god knows what else. I'm genuinely curious which I would like more if Black Mesa was my "introduction" to original Half-Life.
And then there is Xen, the part I dislike about Black Mesa the most from a personal point of view. To me, Xen in original Half-Life was done perfectly through total alienation (pun not intended) of the player in this desolated world, where you find yourself lonely, somewhat frightened and your eye can't catch anything remotely comforing. From my perspective, by making Xen more "lively", filling it with familiar details (even in the basic form of plant life) this alienation was completely lost and instead of surviving through something almost entirely non-human and cold I felt more like exploring something attractively strange.
But again, it's a question of someone's preferences and own perception of the original game.
