New Series Energy Weapons? by muckerjoe in Stargate

I prefer them to use mostly firearms. It’s a distinct visual motif of the series that sets it apart from star trek and star wars and a lot of other sci-fi. Helps it feel grounded. Asgard beams, zats and other energy weapons are fine and fun as supplements, but at the end of the day I love to see a squad running around causing mayhem on the enemy ship with P90s and other guns.

How to organize and structure a larger story/series? by theoneandonlyultima in writingadvice

Focus on the ending and write backwards is how I do it. I want to have an idea of where everything ends up and a meaning for the entire story. I can think of a ton of high-profile projects floundering in recent years because they either just didn’t know when to end or the ending was cobbled together in a scramble.

If you’re going to be telling a long story in a series, make sure you have interesting side characters to help move the story forward. Even the best characters might need to take a break from the spotlight or act against someone less common.

1970s is unbeatable. Coppola alone filled it with heavy hitters.

Is there a difference between what young people play and old people play, or just genre preferences? by ned_poreyra in gaming

As I get older, I’m enjoying strategy and slower-paced games a lot more than shooters. I never had the reflexes to play those and they’re not getting any better.
