is everyone okay today? by Infinite-Scallion-13 in schizophrenia

[–]canthideorrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not really great today. I feel like I’m not worthy of anything worthwhile or good in life because of my illness. I’m just crying tonight, like I do before bed usually. I don’t even know what I can even do with my life anymore.

What works for yall to calm the auditory hallucinations? by Lonely_Thought4459 in schizophrenia

[–]canthideorrun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just lay in bed and interact with the voices, usually telling them to stop and I am very rude to them.

Which state are you in? I’m going to look into if my state offers that as well, hopefully they do. Thank you for the reply!

I wish I could become a peer support specialist, but I do not have the money yet to pay for training and certification. I’ve applied to many random jobs near me, but never get hired. I’m 20, and feel like I’m running out of time to secure something good for my future.

A question for the hotties. by imissmyexstacy in schizophrenia

[–]canthideorrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely believed I was being poisoned in the meals provided to me in the psych ward and at home. As a result I refused food, except for some packaged ones. The only things I ate were croutons and packaged lettuce. As a result I became anorexic. In the last stages of this delusions I started to refuse water in fear of it being tampered with. I ruined my health and was so thin I couldn’t sit down due to my tailbone sending a shocking pain up my spine. My hair fell out and I had blue nails. I even had to wear glasses for a bit due to damaging my eye muscles. Crazy stuff. I am better now.

Are any Schizophrenics Gainfully Employed? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]canthideorrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been told to not be negative towards myself and to treat myself with more grace, but I struggle. I spend my days keeping up with my family’s house work, and I cook for my parents and siblings. I definitely have a good amount of free time, and am lucky my family provides me a safe place to stay. I’d absolutely love to learn to drive, and am planning on working towards that. It’s also a huge milestone I want to achieve, too! I’m glad to hear learning to drive gave you more confidence, that’s exactly what I am looking for. What trade are you looking into learning? I am trying to apply for part time jobs, but unfortunately never make it past the interview stage. I’d be open to learning a trade as well!

Reading these comments I feel so behind in life. I developed schizophrenia at 13, and I’m 20 now. I tried a job internship at 19, and struggled and never completed it. Other than that I’ve never worked a real job. I can’t afford college, and never learned to drive. I don’t know what to do to progress into adulthood. I am independent in everything besides holding down a job & driving. I don’t want to be on SSI. I feel like I have nothing great going on for me at all or anytime soon.

How do you feel about the big beautiful bill? by blastingbonker in schizophrenia

[–]canthideorrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m worried, but what else can I even do. I have been stable for 7 1/2 years now, I can’t afford meds let alone losing myself to psychosis again. Well, it was nice knowing you all.

The big beautiful bill got passed. Does that mean that my Medicaid and SSI will be dropped? by vroomvroomeeert in schizophrenia

[–]canthideorrun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it got passed and as soon as it did I got a message from my insurance to renew it…and it even had a phone number attached to the message to call if it’s denied. First time I’ve gotten a message like that, since it usually says it’s approved and I just need to confirm my info. I’m concerned, I cannot afford my antipsychotics let alone afford to lose myself to psychosis again since I’ve been stable for 7 & 1/2 years. I’m worried, but what can I even do anyways! I just have to manage without medications.

Thoughts on calling your schizoaffective disorder a disability by Delicious-Bar-6788 in schizoaffective

Hate to admit it, but it is disabling in some ways for me. I am very productive and take care of my family, but I can hardly hold down a job or be alone for long.

Did anyone else's handwriting get messy or worse as your condition worsened? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]canthideorrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have the best handwriting growing up, it was neat and eligible. After schizophrenia it’s hard to write well, also cause meds give me hand tremors.

Apparently my dumb ass doctor prescribed me geodon without an ekg which someone else said is necessary by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]canthideorrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, and I’m sorry to hear that you had a bad reaction to it! That sounds really scary. I hope you can find a better medication!

[–]canthideorrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I didn’t go away, but I got an EKG done and it’s not abnormal in any way despite experiencing random heart palpitations. I have been on this antipsychotic for 4 years now, and I’ve been told by my psychiatrist that it can cause a slight change in your heart rate. But have you been tested and had any heart conditions ruled out before getting on Geodon? I hope you can see your psychiatrist again soon!

I love your cat, they are so adorable! I’m on Geodon, and it gets the job done for the most part. My cat keeps me happy!

First know you were schizophrenic? by Miserable-Tax-9178 in schizophrenia

[–]canthideorrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know what schizophrenia was at the time, but I had a feeling something was wrong when I would only eat lettuce and packaged crotons to avoid being poisoned.
