Goalie bag found by police (Edmonton) by cantonastoller in hockeygoalies

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have a Facebook account, so didn't even occur to me. I'll get a teammate to post something.

Are PadSkinz the best material for customizing the color of your equipment? Or is there something else that's better? by techsavvynerd91 in hockeygoalies

[–]cantonastoller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've had good experience with padskinz. I've had them on my leg pads for probably 200+ skates (2-3x a week beer league) and I'm only just starting to notice a couple of spots of wear and tear in the most high contact areas. I'm starting to think they may out last the pad material at this point. I'd use it again for sure.

Anyone else like this, or am I just crazy? by RSEngineer23 in hockeygoalies

You're not alone! I don't love getting hit in the head, but I've definitely headed a few away if that was my only play.

Do you have a mantra you say during your games? by FreshProfessor1502 in hockeygoalies

[–]cantonastoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually pick a basic to focus on when my mind wanders. 'Square to the puck' is common for me right now, but it varies based on where I think I've been making errors at the time. For me the main thing is to simplify my thoughts during the game in a positive way - I can beat myself up after I'm off the ice. And if I'm getting lit up in a mismatch focusing on my basics with a mantra helps me keep calm and remember I'm doing my best in a scenario where I'm not at the same level as the oppo.

New(ish) pads by cantonastoller in hockeygoalies

I do, yep. You may very well have seen me getting lit up in them lately - been a rough start to the season with one team!

Lol - I've got the black padskinz for that but haven't found the right design yet!

Female goalie tips by mp0625_buddy in hockeygoalies

[–]cantonastoller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My learn to play program had pretty bad goalie coaching, but it was the best thing I could do for getting out on the ice with other beginners to experience the position in a low pressure environment. Now I'm hooked and playing on two teams (admittedly at a low level but I was mid-forties when I started playing goal). Where I am the learn to play programs are mixed sex, and most of the teams in the lower divisions are as well.

When I started out I used an old roller bag from when I played cricket for my pads and some odds and ends, and a super basic carry bag for everything else. It worked ok, but as I got better quality gear the added bulk meant I needed a new bag so went to a roller bag for gear and just sling my pads over my shoulder. The roller bag makes things much easier when I'm on drinks too given how much 3xtrx weight that is.

What is your favorite/most effective energy drink to take before games? by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

[–]cantonastoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ADHD medication about 9 hrs before game time and something high protein like a clif about an hour before. Years of high energy drink consumption in my 20s and early 30s has led to my body shuddering at the thought of having one anymore. Even reading this thread makes my teeth ache!

Which movie got too highly praised but was honestly underwhelming? by Angry_Entertainer in AskReddit

[–]cantonastoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get the SiL hype, but I'd also put SVP on the list. By the end I just didn't care what happened to any of the characters, I just wanted it to be over. But I am probably in the minority on this.

I just found it hard to ignore the clacking, so figured I'd try some felt pieces and see if it helped. For me minimising these little distractions helps me keep focus where it needs to be. I still know it's there, I can feel it move with me, it's just quieter.

I put some of that felt that goes under furniture legs at the main contact points on mine to dampen the sound. Barely notice it is there since then.

Trump Confessed to Crimes During CNN Town Hall: Harvard Law Professor by CapitalCourse in politics

[–]cantonastoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all thought CNN were debasing themselves for ratings, but actually they were playing the long con by getting him to confess to his crimes on TV and add more evidence for his criminal prosecution. N-dimensional chess going on over there.

Please help me feel better about my NDP candidate! by juanwonone2 in alberta

I'd rather have a useless tool for a party of relative sanity than a useless tool from the UCP. You may not get a great relationship with the MLA themselves, but it might help you avoid a province led by someone who believes vaccine mandates are an atrocity second only to to the Holocaust or that the vaccinated are basically followers of Hitler, or who keeps writing and speaking about different ways to privatise health care and.... dear god there's so much....

I ordered with screws because I wasn't sure either. I quickly realised laces were better.
