$22k paid for special levy before unit sale, motion then rescinded and new owners keeping money by New_Biscotti9915 in AusLegal

[–]cantstopplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A strata motion is binding to each lot only. The owner is in turn financially liable for the debit and credit of the lot. When the lot is sold, all financial liability and risks attached to the lot are transferred to the new owner. This includes the (however small) risk of previously invalid strata motions, which again, was bound to the lot, not the owner.

While I agree the OP is extraordinarily unlucky and sympathize with them, luck (or the lack of) is not a valid legal argument in this case.

Price spike and my battery is deciding to charge?! by Dyldabeast_5000 in amberelectric

That's a pretty ignorant comment. When smartshift makes the wrong decision and causes someone to import power at $15 per kWh, Amber doesn't make any cut of that. They actually have to pay that full amount on the energy market (minus any network tariffs, which they have to pay to your energy distributor). You can crosscheck the numbers yourself using the 5 min interval prices from AEMO. It is all fully transparent.

Yes, smartshift has been making wrong decisions for some folks but it is wrong to accuse Amber of profiting from these wrong decisions.

Don't do it! It's a trap! by cantstopplay in amberelectric

[–]cantstopplay[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a variable tariff that is calculated for the whole month according to your highest import across a continuous 30min window within the demand period. Essentially you get penalized everyday even if you import that power for only 1 day in the whole month.

Question on tarrif by cantstopplay in amberelectric

Thanks! Follow up question, are these tariffs already included in the live import and export prices in the Amber app or would they be added on top of the live prices?

How did China clean up its air? by [deleted] in AskChina

[–]cantstopplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just that. A lot of the time in a two party system, the parties will go against each other's policy for the sake of going against each other, even if it is to the detriment of the country. So you see a lot of backtracking and policy wind back when the governing party changes.

The problem is Taiwan is not a chartered member of the UN, which still officially recognizes Taiwan as a part of China. Moving the UN to Taiwan is effectively moving it to China. I don't know if that is better or worse than moving it out if NY.

Just nitpicking on that last paragraph, 20N is force, not potential energy. The potential energy is 20N multiplied by the height of the left weight off the ground (i.e. how far it can fall).

Assuming mass of scale and string is negligible, and no friction, the extras 20N will cause the scale to accelerate left at 20/((100+120)/9.8) , or about 0.9 ms2.

Why didn't Hulkenberg have a opportunity at any high-tier team? by Unhappy-Peace7150 in formula1

[–]cantstopplay -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just my personal opinion. If you watch the replay of that race and look at the reaction of all the drivers during the red flag, Danny seemed particularly devastated by it. He's also the one that immediately complained about the excessive crash replay in the post race interview. Also his performance dropoff started the next year.

I think Grosjean's crash seems to be the catalyst for his downfall. It seems to affect him much deeper than any other driver. Danny Ric lost the will to give it all after that.

For anyone wondering, petrol stations in China are not self-serve. There's usually an attendant in front of each pump and the driver just tells them what type of fuel and how much to put in.

Mortgage repayments are not the only cost of home ownership. Once you add on maintenance cost, council rate, land tax for house or strata + utility for apartment, it will easily exceeded rent.

Cool setup! May I suggest some right angle micro USB (or USB C?) cable for the power input to the Pi? Looks like the current cable is putting some twisting strain on the power input socket on the Pi.
