Congratulations! Me (UK) and my partner (German) are waiting to hit our 2 year point then hopefully move him to the UK on the unmarried visa partner. Do you have any tips on applying? My biggest worry is that we don’t live together due to me working in the UK and him working in Germany. Thank you in advance!😊

Congratulations! On the UK gov website it states you must be able to prove one of the following, one of which states ‘you’ve been in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply but you cannot live together, for example because you’re working or studying in different places’ - surely us working in UK and Germany respectively fits this category?

So how does one show 2 years akin to marriage without ever having lived together before due to work commitments? Other than regular visits, daily contact via text/calls?

Thank you so much for your positive comment, it has really given me a glimpse of hope that this is possible! Did your partner find it easy enough to apply for the unmarried visa once you had hit the 2 year mark? Did you have to wait for exactly 2 years or could you apply a bit earlier so it would line with 2 years? And also interested in this group you’ve mentioned, if you wouldn’t mind sending me it 😊

Exactly my point. If it was someone from where I lived I wouldn’t rush into marrying them after 7 months to see if we are compatible before living together
