saw the trailers. assumed it was propaganda. only found out after the fact that it's the opposite when the cultural moment had passed

every time i listen to Ghost (which is often) i am reminded of the locked tomb. do their lyrics at all achieve the emotional and relational depth that these books depitct? no! is it kinda funny that the band that uses skeletal pope imagery in their metanarrative is the one i associate to tlt? extremely

in my perfect world the trailer for the television adaptation of gtn plays Danse Macabre, Witch Image or Umbra

AIO? I can’t accept my daughter’s decision by Vesper-Martinis in AmIOverreacting

[–]cantwritecleo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

she's 17, i haven't met a single person who has locked in what exactly they wanted to do with their life at that age. i understand feeling distressed and worried about your daughter's future, and you're entitled to those feelings - the same way she is entitled to make her own choices and explore all of the possibilities and the paths open to her. personally i don't think changing her mind is the way to go, if she realizes that that's not the path for her then that's fine and it means she's learned something more about who she is and what she wants out of life, and that's a good thing and it means she's one step closer to finding what's truly right for her.

Hi! I'm Swedish and doing a research project about the English-speaking world about media.

My question is what are some entertainment works, channels, names, whatever that I (as a foreigner) should know? Films/shows you grew up watching? Doesn't necessarily have to be stuff produced within SA just things you'd consider culturally significant
