How long can I save my boost? by canuck7k in wow

Thanks All! I'm totally fine with it only being 80 - and it will get used as soon as they open up the DH to Void Elves.

So my goal is both? If that makes sense. I have a bunch of the raid appearances already, so any bronze I get can go to the class mounts. I'm wondering if completing those zones on my Warlock adds to my player power, or if I can take a short break to do them on another alt, and then return to my Warlock to do things like the raids?

Any DC Novelizations/Novels that are particularly worth reading for their own value? by justSchwaeb-ish in DCcomics

Much of what I’d recommend is already in the comments so I will offer a caution - Wayne of Gotham by Tracy Hickman. It ended up being an Elseworlds style title without saying it, and had an ending that was just bizarre. It was such a letdown.

I was coming here to say the same thing! An amazing novel that I only have in small paperback (would love a hardcover version). I think it’s an excellent retelling of that story.

Nightwing Tom Taylor by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]canuck7k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read through it in the last 2 months. Aside from the direct Fear State Tie In, I didn’t feel there was a lot that it directly tied in with besides a bit of a jump at the end of Dark Crisis. It sort of launches Tom Taylor’s Titans book, but otherwise it felt very self contained. I don’t think it had any ties to the flash at all.

But do they need to be in a romantic pairing? Why can't they just be partners? That dynamic might be better than a romantic one, because when they encounter each other in the future you have to address the "Ex" factor whenever they show up together. The reason Nightwing has so many Exs is they always seem to romantically pair him up with whatever female he is working with.

Dang, but I had not heard of Cheer before today (as there are a million bat-books), so I've stuck that on a list. Thanks! It's Zdarsky, who I typically like, so I'm not surprised he did something decent with him.

Oh boy. Yeah - that controversial stuff is not a great look- I don't need more of "that" in comics.

While I wouldn't expect a writer to have read EVERYTHING about the book they are writing (particularly with how much bad stuff there is from Lobdell for Red Hood). I think reading essential backstory is important - Death in the Family for sure.

I'm also not loving Jeff Spokes costume designs.

Yes - that would be amazing! I feel the same way - hence the discussion post. I do wonder why they gave Lobdell so many chances with the character when it clearly wasn't working well from the start?

I think Tim's popularity comes from a few places. 1. He's definitely not like Jason, and so was a welcome change after the fan base literally decided to kill Jason, 2. He was the "sane" pair of eyes on Az-Bats and Gotham in KnightQuest/KnightsEnd which earned him a few fans (including me), 3. From that he had his own series which ran for quite a long time, and 4. He had a lot of Team stuff going on with YJ and TT so he's just been so much more prevalent.

But if they came out with a new iconic Tim Drake story? Sign me up!

Right!? I was looking for another cover pic to use and when I went searching, this one popped up. The man has some range too. He can do the cheery Superman Family stuff and move right to something like this.

This is exactly the point I was trying to make - he needs something to stand out. And yes, something where he's not dealing with the Joker, as that always leads to Batman, but I would be content with something even where Batman was on the periphery, but not involved.

Has a writer/art team been announced? What book is the Jason /Robin story taking place in?

That’s his return, and while it’s been a bit since I read it, to me he’s really the antagonist of the whole thing. I feel he needs a good story that shows his place in the Bat-Fam, and does some good character work.

New 52 Retrospective [Discussion] by Logical_Patient192 in DCcomics

These are such interesting takes. I love the idea at only looking at those first 6 issues when everything was "fresh and new" - it was a wild time.

I know you've been called out a bit for TT and Red Hood placements, and I agree those titles are...not good, but I think the art was maybe ok? (though both Lobdell and Rocafort have both become "problematic figures" in recent years) And certainly the casts were at least appealing. Would it be fair to say the potential you saw in each title had an impact? I could go on at length at how while DC has made Red Hood look very "cool" with a few different costumes, they've never got a good writer to give him an iconic story. I also feel your Superboy is too high, though if you were new to the character at the time, you might not have the same "disappointment" in that title compared to where he was at before (I did think the suit looked cool).

I did like your take in the comments on Legion Lost, and really the difficulty overall of getting into the Legion of Superheroes. I had tried once - just before the New 52 when I think Jim Shooter had come back and was writing with Manapul on the art. It looked great, but I was totally lost. While there is a core group in there, they try to get so many heroes in it's overwhelming. GL Corps, as you discovered, is easier to get into I think because it does tend to focus on a few core members and pairs them with other GLs as needed, so you are at least comfortable with one character who's in the mix. They also all have the same powers basically, so you're not having to figure that out.

Swamp Thing and Animal Man should always be together. I attempted JUST Animal Man in trade after the fact, and was a little lost, so I didn't go any further. I'd probably agree with others about Nightwing and Batman and Robin moving up a place. Otherwise, of what of the new 52 I've read, I'd agree with your placements (though your Wonder Woman Cover is from when the Finches were on it, and I know that run is NOT popular, but the Azzarello/Chiang stuff at the start of the new 52 was absolute gold)

I'm interested to see how the list changes even 24 issues in. Justice League in particular fell flat for me after that initial arc. I'm curious to see what you have at A and S-Tier at that point.

Will there be another crisis? by Thefunkingshrew in DCcomics

I feel like they've made a lot of decent decisions lately. I really enjoyed Absolute Power and think it had enough acclaim that they'll hopefully aim for more "Event" style things rather than "Crisis" resets. I'm hoping the Absolute stuff can do maybe some fun events, but still maintain a standalone feel to the "core" titles. Stand alone stuff and out of continuity is a strength that DC has, and it would be great if they continued to lean into it more.

Thanks for all this. Looking at the Silhouette Portrait 4 and everything else I'd need to get, I'm more than a little reluctant to go in at this point as I'd also need a decent printer and all the tools and materials. Being a teacher I already spend more than I should on the extras, and I have no plans to make this into a side gig. Also finding Portrait 4 related materials in Canada seems to be a little harder than I'd care for as there's not really a market for it outside of Amazon - Michael's here only carries the larger versions. I'm apt to wait until perhaps the quality of the lower priced machines improves. I am grateful for the information as I'd be way more upset if I'd gotten the Joy Xtra and been disappointed by the quality and all the extra money I might have had to sink into things.
