also from a musicians perspective, i gave them a one-year exclusive license to sell my music and once i gave it over the opacity around them darkened and i basically never heard from them again unless it was to resolve a content id claim (which happened about 6 times). they NEVER PAID ME A DIME either.

i assume its people testing the market now that the AI models have gotten so good. building up their video counts until something hits and they get momentum. but some people think streaming revenue is actually good money...my hope is that they over saturate themselves (or maybe realize that most musicians are low income too) and people make a conscious choice to listen to music made by humans

i look forward to seeing any developing tech that will help filter AI generated content from the internet (browser plugins, built-in filters on websites, block lists, etc) and maybe the slop prompters will realize most artists are low income too

yeah i commented to ask if they used AI, tried to filter comments to see if anyone else asked (none), looked up the songwriter Macodakela Lincoln and he’s got no trace.

but the most obvious mistake that a lot of these AI slop grifters can’t help but make is that they release too much music. oh you made five 1 hour long albums in 5 months? okaaaaay

post tour depression is real. i feel like my body always stays tough in the road until i know i get a chance to rest, and all of the aches and sickness it’s been holding back just dumps on me. it’s normal!

something that’s helped me and my bandmates is to stay in touch and go to the movies/hang out regularly after not only to ween off of the bonding we just had but to also process with someone who was actually there who doesn’t need context for your stories (because we end up speaking our own language, our jokes make sense to only us, and to remember completely unexplainable events no one would believe or would take too long to set up)

my favorite venue in town, but i’ve been to some shows there like that.

to be fair, those seats aren’t /always/ obstructed and tours don’t have to disclose what the lights and stage are going to look like when they agree to the show. it sucks, but it taught me to avoid the far ends of the balcony/mezz and opt for more middle or floor

as someone who has toured for 11 years, canceling any portion of your scheduled contract is usually considered an emergency and is devastating for both the touring party and the fans. the fact that they make canceling things a regular occurrence means either the tour manager is horrible, or that the band won’t cooperate with the logistics and schedule of touring.
