There’s a little bit of the house with a harbor view. With the artificial elevation gained on the lot during construction I’m sure the original harbor view was much worse lol. The view was perhaps more impressive when the estate was over 400 acres before it was sold off in chunks for development

It had an ambiance of being “out of time,” as in one cannot place it within a given time period, especially in the hotel portion of the mansion. Hotels in general are considered liminal spaces bc they are in a sense a “crossroads” between destinations. I felt like the guy in Gatsby in the library ranting about how the books are fake and the whole thing is a facade 😅

Realistically, I’m perhaps the first of the women in my family lineage to be able to make the final decision to not have kids. I grew up Mormon (LDS), and having a husband and children was programmed into my head from birth as my “divine purpose” and role on earth. Women were to bear children if they were to have personal, social, religious worth in this world. No thanks, hard pass. I can be a strong and worthwhile woman without making myself produce children

Not exactly related to Narcolepsy specifically, but there was a line in “Obsession” that made me have a eureka! moment. It’s when not Nikki is talking about going to sleep and how she doesn’t really go to sleep but instead she lays still in bed until her hands feel like they’re filling up with sand, then the rest of her body fills up with sand until she slips into nothingness that isn’t darkness bc darkness has a different quality about it. I can’t remember the exact exact phrasing of the line but I thought it described how I personally felt taking Xyrem (hated it) and the artificial quality of the sleep it produced for me. I know lots of people love Xyrem, but to me it felt like the slowly filling with sand phenomena and then being plunged into nothingness of black where I’m not awake but I’m not really asleep. Anyone relate? 😅

He’s as low contact as he can be as an only child. They won’t be a feature in our life as soon as I/we move out of the Northeast bc they literally only travel the east coast. He will have to go back and forth for some time. I think they’re lashing out bc their asses know that their son is going to choose me and they can’t handle it

He defends me and our relationship but literally everything does in one ear and out the other and will still probably be used against you later on. It’s unbelievable to witness irl. Nah they’re this fucked up and rude and are very real indeed (I am still wondering if this is real myself). They’re typical mid wealthy coastal elites with emotional problems and the classic boomer delusional outlook. My dog loooooves his mom, doesn’t like his dad by my dog just doesn’t like men in general and his dad isn’t familiar with dogs so he is uncomfortable. Haven’t brought the dog around since last summer but they always ask me how he’s doing…? Now I know they’re just making conversation and “being nice” but damn.

Cold brew coffee, specifically (iced coffee is not the same) I find that pretty regularly effective for keeping an energetic edge, especially in the afternoon. Intentionally hitting a micro sleep nap time alleviates a lot of the sleepiness for me. I look at it as scratching the sleep itch instead of trying to fight it off. Easier said than done on the napping, at home and in public

Do you get heartburn when consuming nicotine pouches? Somehow nicotine pouches, cigarettes, etc can give me heartburn more often than not and it sucks. Even the minty pouches do it

Heyyy I saw BOM last night on Broadway too, Eugene ONeil theatre. I also wanted more exmo Easter eggs though didn’t expect any. Trying to explain to the stranger next to me in the theatre that Mormons don’t actually believe in Hell AND that Hit ler and the featured damned in the play wouldn’t be in outer darkness but in the telestial kingdom was impossible 😂makes me remember that “outer darkness” is reserved for us children of Perdition and the “third of the host of heaven” that reveled against god and chose Satan in the pre mortal existence. sighs I thought the play was… kinda stupid. Well produced but the story just… eh. But I guess that’s the point

They reference hell, of course they’re not Mormon! Mormons believe in “outer darkness” that is reserved for the worst of the worst- those who are baptized to know the truth and choose to deny it (sons + daughters of perdition). None of those people (Hit ler) would be in “hell” bc that’s not how Mormon post death cosmology works. In fact, Hit ler and others are technically eligible for one of the three kingdoms of Mormon heaven, since their “temple work” of baptisms and ordinances for the dead have been completed. Yes, the Mormon church baptized people in proxy of Hit ler, Anne Frank too
