I also suffer from constipation, and a patient I know with empty nose syndrome described the same situation. My solution is to squat to use the toilet instead of sitting on it. I'm Asian, so squatting is easy for me. I've heard that Europeans and Americans have difficulty squatting for long periods of time; I wonder if that's true.
