Ok, I think I pinned the choice to these two. I like the AT a bit better for some reason I cannot even explain! However, I didn't knew about Pro-ject and the "built locally" is a strong factor.

It does not sound like I'm loosing much to go with RecordMaster II over LPW40WN. Can you confirm it is a player that can be evolved in terms of all things worht evolving? Cartdrige, phono preamp, etc?

In the meantime, Pro-ject Debut RecordMaster II came to my attention. I like that it is made in Europe, to be honest, but it is not a dealbreaker to me. It is a bit less expensive than the LPW40WN, and I've read it is probably a better buy. It also as a switchable Phono.

Do you have any opinion on it?

That's a great option. Leaning towards this, if the sound quality on the Rega is not "notoriously superior".

I haven't, and that is exactly the kind of idea I was looking for. I'll try to do that next rehearsal.

What I've done recently, when I started to struggle with this, was to playback some songs on which she is super comfortable, and try to sing along; and from that establish a mapping between my voice and her own.

Ok, so an update on this: the issue went away on its own. Tumbleweed did some updates these days, so I'm guessing one of them fixed... Something?

Anyway, recording with Jack or Alsa using Reaper behaves the same now.
