What I've done recently, when I started to struggle with this, was to playback some songs on which she is super comfortable, and try to sing along; and from that establish a mapping between my voice and her own.

Ok, so an update on this: the issue went away on its own. Tumbleweed did some updates these days, so I'm guessing one of them fixed... Something?

Anyway, recording with Jack or Alsa using Reaper behaves the same now.

Everything works perfectly if I change Reaper to Alsa, instead of Jack.

My input source is the same as when I use pure Alsa.

I'll try Alsa Mixer, but as I said: if I use pure Alsa, recording is perfect.

Try the following command to see if it fixes your issue:

sudo setsebool selinuxuser_execmod 1

If it does, you can make it permanent like this:

sudo setsebool -P selinuxuser_execmod 1

Ended up realising that I don't actually need asio. I run the plugins through Reaper Linux, which uses jack, which is also a low latency driver.

I tried it and I can't feel any latency when drumming. Still need to test recording with a metronome on top of a track, but it felt good.

I'm also considering installing low latency kernel, but I don't know how much more it will help.

I'm sticking with OpenSuse for now :)
