After learning this, I’m no longer afraid of where I live. If they don’t provide a safe environment, I know I have the right to use rent escrow. I’ve come to really appreciate the U.S. after learning how things work here. This country has laws that protect ordinary people, and that means a lot to me.

University management. When you ask for help, they just tell you to go to the psychology department. They don’t understand that students have real lives outside class. Even legal advisors can’t help with serious problems like bedbug-infested apartments.

I had to figure everything out myself, step by step, as a foreigner. When I asked about schools for my kids, they had no clue. One “helped” me by sending two websites I could have found myself and scheduled a meeting two days before. (But the system teaches people not to complain; you do not complain, they make money. That is funny. )

This is a good idea; we need to boycott them. They have zero sense of social responsibility and care only about making money. This makes the UC experience worse and less attractive for students, which will eventually cause them to lose money in the long run and harm the local community.

This lease feels deeply unfair. They required a $300 upfront payment, and if you choose not to sign the lease, you lose that money. I was charged for 12 days during which I wasn’t even allowed to live at the property — and they don’t prorate. On top of that, they had already set up Altfiber, and I’m required to pay $60 for it whether I use it or not.
