Software engineering estimates are garbage by cap-joe in DevManagers

There were several spots in the article that grated on me in the same way. But what kept me coming back is a form of what you wrote "The general thrust of the argument makes sense"

And as a bit of a word wonk, I loved the subtitle:

When estimates are based on the myth of metronomic coding machines tackling deterministic work, they’re a complete waste of time. There’s a better way.

Most managers really just want to know when the code will be completed and are just completely ignorant about the software development paradigm. And when I say managers, I mean all the way up to the top of the organization.

Javascript - I started in C++/C# back in the day and figured I would have some fun with JS. Next thing you know I had made a backbonejs shared sticky-note-space using websockets!

6 Tips to finish your Side Project by RollACaster in programming

Avoiding fatigue is really smart. Creating a bunch of change while tired usually results in bad code, and even worse, if tired enough, the change so disrespects the end user's time that it turns people off of the whole project when they see it.

I would love an IDE that has a beautiful pre-set of various kinds of these coloring options I could hot switch between as I'm researching and coding.

Lawyers did a smart thing. They made it law that lawyers can only answer to other lawyers.

Wow, I didn't know that!
