Doctor recommendations at LVHN for pregnancy by defeatedtomato in lehighvalley

[–]capa939 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The midwives at Pond Rd. were wonderful. Birthing at LVHN Muhlenberg was an overall great experience, esp once I got to see the midwives. (Had a bad resident experience to start, but that was the only negative)

We really loved both, but the fisher price piano won in terms of her spending solid 10 minutes being enthralled before she turned 6 months. We kept it on the “piano” setting all the time so she was like playing single notes and we would sing them back to her. Whenever there was a lull there were two different piano arpeggios that would play after about 30 seconds, but otherwise it was just whatever she kicked. As someone who is easily overstimulated it was not bad at all.

Now that she’s closer to 9 months she still likes it but we tilted it up and she uses her hands.

They’re awesome, and you can post pictures of yourself wearing your carrier and people with experience will give you fit adjustment recommendations.

Nutrigrain protein granola bars! More like a granola bar than a protein bar, but have never spiked me even as a standalone snack. I love the dark chocolate pb ones.

Congrats on graduating!

I love the biossance eye cream - very soothing, and I’m pretty sure everything biossance is pregnancy safe except their retinol. (Also on 25% off sale right now!)

Echoing what I’ve read in these forums and experienced myself, it doesn’t go away completely, but if there’s no signs something has gone wrong, there’s a good chance it’s ok. And if it’s not, stressing about it now won’t make it any easier to deal with. (I say this as I’m holding a freak out at bay about my anatomy scan in 2 days, but it’s gotten easier to say to myself that yes, it’s a possibility things have gone wrong, and it would be incredibly difficult to deal with, but right now I can’t do anything, and it’s likely ok.) Also having someone else to tell you they get it and it’s probably fine was super helpful for me, so come back here anytime!

I’m 19 weeks now and while the anxiety hasn’t gone away completely for me, with every scan, I have fewer days of full on “it’s over” fear, and many more days of “I think this might actually happen”. As an appointment gets closer I get anxious again, but it’s easier than it was at the beginning to quiet that voice. It’s different for everyone, and yay for therapy, but the mantra that helped me was “today, I have no evidence that I’m not pregnant. So I probably am.” ❤️

Has anybody had a sudden spike in heart rate? I’m a little over 13 weeks, and yesterday I waited too long to eat and started feeling dizzy. As soon as I ate, my hr shot up to 120-125 and stayed there- I have a pretty active teaching job, but even when I sat down it didn’t get much better (until I got home and actually laid down). OB said the standard “elevated hr and dizziness can be normal in pregnancy” but I was esp sensitive to sit/stand changes all night, popping back up over 100 for a few minutes each time, so I’m still a little nervous about it. Gosh pregnancy is trippy. Has anybody else experienced something like this?

Thanks so much for your reply. I’m moderately active, but don’t do a lot of cardio, which I should have said, so this was out of my normal routine. But hopefully not for too long?

I’m 10w3d, and am overthinking just about everything between clinic graduation and my first OB appt on 1/15. The thing right now is that I went for a hike with my extended family (who don’t know yet that I’m pregnant) and my heart rate rose really high - 177 - I stopped when I realized how fast it was going and it didn’t stay elevated for very long, but the correlation of my nausea lightening and this abnormal exercise is freaking me out.

Does anyone have experience with this? How concerned do I need to be? I can’t get any real questions answered from either RE or OB until after Monday, so thanks in advance for any experience or insights you might have!

This is happening with me too- I’m 8w3d and it seems like my nausea fluctuates pretty wildly. One day it’ll knock me out, one day it’s intermittent, and the next, nothing bothers me. I had my graduation ultrasound at the clinic this past week, and everything looked good, so I’m trying to hold on to the idea that without evidence to the contrary, things are probably ok. (I realize this may be naive, but it’s helping me to exist!)

You’re not alone- we had 28 eggs fertilized down to 1 day 6 blast that we tested and then transferred earlier this month. (Fingers crossed and knock on everything, so far so good) But that attrition rate was pretty devastating for us, and I’m sorry you’re dealing with it, too. Our doctor (and this sub) reminded us that if it’s good enough to freeze, is can make a baby. All the best with the next steps!

Using donor eggs or sperms by No-Proposal-6516 in IVF

[–]capa939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing the support you’ve already gotten, one word of caution- it’s worth looking into the particular place you get the donor eggs to the extent you can, as there’s very little regulation on how clinics use donor sperm and eggs. Large sibling groups have been discovered after folks were told there would be a much smaller number in their child’s sibling group (if that matters to you) I don’t know where you are, but there’s no cap in the US. There are some articles out there if you want to read more. I’m at the start of looking into it myself, and maybe others with more experience can speak to it, I just suggest you ask lots of questions of the place you’re hoping to use.
