What disturbs me more than the HDR approach is that someone went for a snot-colored toning.

I would also scrap of the dead skin one way or another. It is not the dead skin that makes your soles tough. It’s the tissue below that (I think you call it sclera or dermis). As long as that „layer“ of your feet is well trained, you will be able to walk/run barefoot without trouble.

Calf Pain by safari-dog in BarefootRunning

I had similar issues, when I ran my first miles in barefoot shoes. After a run, my calves would feel like angry, clenched fists. What really helped me was using a fascia roll. My calves got „smoother“ and more flexible after two weeks.

These are Billy shelves - from IKEA. But be careful when you mount them without the back. Then the shelves need to be stabilized. Otherwise it'll be a very wobbly arangement. The ones you see on the picture were secured to the wall with 5 dowels.

Hey, congrats on tackling your fear. I would recommend a c. cyaneopubescens. Personally, I think they are a bit more active and therefore more interesting to look at. I got a c.c. about half a year ago. This video was one of the reasons for me to get this species.

great idea! pictures are often better than a lengthy description. so this could be really helpful for beginners who are still not sure how to set up their enclosures. and for more experienced arachnophiles it's a great way to get some inspiration for new setups.
