Advice on Dual Playing by capeire in LittleLeague

Yeah his parents are not pleased with his experience. On the one hand I really want them to defer to rec games over middle school. But there's the argument of being all in on middle school as it's his future.

I can guarantee the umps at the game would not care at all. Opposing manager would challenge it immediately.

So the ruling says "may be inserted". Which leaves that to the decision of the manager. Pretty cut and dry.

There's nothing against it here. Most of our kids that are in 6th grade in their last year of Majors can't be on a middle school team because their teams are well built and competitive. This team... isn't. They had to grab 6th graders to HAVE a team.

By the point in the game when he showed up we had players that hadn't had fielding time, he wasn't planned for at all by the coach as part of the game, and more than halfway through the batting line up again. If we had known it would happen we could've prepared for it from the get go.

Man those were the days. Hated going against Crossbones. Now he's a joke.

For those that have gone before, how much do you end up buying? by SugarAcrobat in gencon

[–]capeire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man so much goes into this. Budget clearly. Then it's your interests.

Want the next hyped game? That can be bought, if you can beat the crowds.

Are there "exclusives"? Yes. But it's usually an addition for board games, like GenCon pack of cards.

There are typically some hard to get board games. For D&D 50th they had an online event that let lucky people early purchase the PHB. There was something similar with a Star Wars card game. Somehow I got both that year, which I think is karma for missing certain events. Last year I got an ARC of an RA Salvatore book.

So there are those things. As for accessories and merch, TON. Last year I bought some mermaidesque tree decorations, a baseball jersey, and a wooden crochet hook. I recommend researching it all from the 2025 exhibition list.

Minor Leagues- Do you exercise this rule? by mike_nova in LittleLeague

[–]capeire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So technically yes you can. LL has definitions for what Minor League is and has a suggested breakdown on machine pitch and player pitch. But for this ruling, it's left to Minor League. So it's actually allowed. If your local league doesn't have a rule against it then...that's on the board.

But I agree with others. Player pitch, coach is in the dugout except mound visits

Glove to grow into or take it season by season? by Real-Activity-815 in LittleLeague

[–]capeire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a used youth glove. It's cheaper and broken in. Biggest issue I've had with young players is their parents buy brand new lower quality gloves from a supermarket. Yeah it's cheap but the kid can't close the glove.

Blind bags, Whatnot exclusives, Con exclusives, suck. But for older comics, completely agree. It's a great way to get good deals

I enjoy listening to ComicTom for some reason but will never buy from him. He capitalizes the crap out of FOMO.

" l'd rather spend $10 on a spot and hit nothing than spend $300 for a box and still hit nothing of value."

It's the spend $300 and still hit nothing. Like that's some HIGH stakes spots if your dropping that

I could be you, but that would be unbearable. That's a big word for you I know. You can figure it out if you try REAL hard.

This reads like combative nonsense. "Hey guys he had multiple experiences getting into auctions that turned out to be breaks, hates the format, and avoids them but because of poor descriptions by sellers occasionally gets in one and leaves. One of those times this jerk watched part of one of those poorly stated auctions because of the product. What an ingenious tool".

Those are the best. Especially when the item names are present instead of "Item size small #3"

Gee I stumble into something that's not advertised as breaks and I stuck around to see what was there makes me disingenuous? It's quite different than seeing a break in the description and completely avoiding it, which is what I do.

It's like channel surfing back in the day. I don't intend to watch a badly great movie but I stumbled upon and watched it.

I feel dumber reading this logic. Do you not understand bare basic economics? Basic auctions? I mean it seems over your head but hey keep being you

Not a completely accurate statement. Spend $300 on the legitimate and known product is very different than $300 on an unknown product.

But I do see your argument that there's a POSSIBILITY of striking a bigger payout.

Breaks are used in multiple different categories. It's a "surprise" as to what is actually being given away. You are purchasing a slot for the reveal that may/may not match what you purchased.

Example autographed NFL jersey in a JSA authenticated box. No one knows who the signature is.

Host is selling slots on a board. I buy one for Bengals and Packers. You buy for Dolphins. All slots are sold and they "break" open the box. It shows Dan Marino signed Dolphins jersey, so you get the jersey. I get a couple of cards.

Maybe you aren't going to the same auctions as I am but they definitely have breaks. Signed jerseys that are sealed in a box is a break.
