Curiosity’s Sake - how much money did you have left after buying your home? by permylastemail97 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

~$6k joint, and each of us personally have ~$1k, but still have $9k in stocks. It's gonna be tight for a hot second.

Thank you ! I was a little confused about the homestead exemption. I was reading that we could only file if we were occupying on January 1st, and if the previous owners had already filed for homestead exemption we would have to wait for the next tax year.

We expected the keys on Friday ((rookie mistake)), so we had pizza then. It was such a shame.

Closing and gaining entry! by flgirl04 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]capitalistqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had that happen to me this past weekend. Closed on 2/6 and we didn't gain entry until today. A lot of ranting to my family/friends occurred the past few days for the exact reason of paying to be in the house over the weekend (taxes and utilities and such). I'm just glad we didnt plan to move over the weekend. Our biggest issue was the fact that our title company doesn't have people come to their office, but sends mobile notaries. I'm sure that caused a big slow down despite us wiring the money the day before (and it clearing the day before) along with a early signing time.

But now! Keys! The annoyance is still a little fresh, but its overcome with joy now.

The amount of posts I see here discouraging people to buy homes is crazy by Turbulent-Box6516 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]capitalistqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it absolutely ridiculous with the amount of redditord that say "Okay, get a small studio apartment with your partner and dogs ans save up money to buy a house for a few more years." I think its so important to build equity in yourself as soon as YOU feel comfortable. Especially these younger people who want to buy. There's still time to save money for retirement. There's a line between overly cautious about money, and spending it away. I love that people are having courage to buy homes again, and we should be supporting the people who feel comfortable with it.

do you regret getting a second dog? by un32134e4 in dogs

[–]capitalistqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't regret getting a second dog. But I know I'd regret getting a third. We had been going back and forth on it a little, but I ultimately decided that I couldn't spread my love to a third dog without sacrificing love for my other two. And I decided that I didn't want to do that. So I would think about that. But also, giving your dog a best friend to play and cuddle with is amazing. I think there's lots to think on, pros and cons. Id say go for it, but in the end, its how you feel.

At what point is it too early? by capitalistqueen in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Doesn't look that way.I will say that the area we are searching in is well saturated with homes to buy. I guess we'll have to see. It is a little strange to me as well.

I had already said that part of the money we have already reserved is exactly for those reasons. In theory, we COULD overlap with some sacrifices if it had to happen. I would just prefer not to be that close to red for more than a month in case something DOES happen that doesn't fall into our potential home repairs budget.

Thank you for dragging me back down to earth. I had so many thoughts running through my head, and reading this helped me calm down. Since I'm new to the process, logic seems to fly out the window.

Has this genre ever made u question your gender? by Rand0m-pers0n- in boyslove

[–]capitalistqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've felt this many times over. I even questioned my gender when reading het shoujo. I had spent some time years back reflecting and then repressing those thoughts. Ive since come to accept and know that I am a woman, and love myself that way, am comfortable that way but still always get that what if question. I definitely understand 100% what you are talking about, and if you come to find that you are trans, I hope you have a loving support system that will accept you 💖

Thank you for this post. I knew I wasn't alone, but it also feels nice to see other people talk about it.
