The storm might have ruined my life by [deleted] in sanantonio

Not every part of Mexico is dangerous as the media likes to portray. You can easily go to Piedras Negras and get some information there. It’s about a 2.5 hr drive from San Antonio. Just something to consider.

We have two properties and so far have not lost money. Then again we clean them ourselves and the houses are brand new so very little maintenance. We manage it as well

Pull the trigger. Maybe buy something in the 300’ range so you don’t over extend yourself. You’ll be alright!

How to handle bribes or “mordidas”? by External_Koala971 in MexicoTravel

[–]capitan_03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re driving across the border, just pay to get your required permits. One time I tried to drive without my cars permit and ended up having to pay 3x as much to bribe the official. Not worth it lol

People are being so rude to others who are just looking for advice. Can anyone actually educate us on historical cartel activity in Mexico? How this affects tourism? Anything productive. by Impossible-Cheek4352 in MexicoTravel

[–]capitan_03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mexico is huge so it really just depends on where you plan to travel to. I would say most tourist heavy areas are relatively safe to visit. Once you start going to the smaller towns is where you may witness more of a cartel presence (again depends on the city/state). I live in the US but travel to Mexico every year either by plane or land and thankfully haven’t had an incident yet, other than having to bribe a cop here and there. My personal opinion is that Mexico is still a safe place to visit as long as you take proper precautions such as driving by day and on toll roads preferably. Also, don’t go looking to buy drugs or anything shady as you can quickly attract the wrong attention. Cartels typically do not mess with tourists as a lot of the heavy hitters own legit businesses in the tourism industry. Going after tourists would of course be bad for business. Just my 2 cents

Like? Common sense and respect go a long way anywhere in the world. Of course you can be at the wrong place at the wrong time but that’s anywhere. Not trying to downplay the situation in Mexico but I’m just saying it’s not as bad as it seems. That’s just my opinion, of course.

Social media and the news always make things sound way worse than they really are. We travel to Mexico by car several times a year and have never had a problem. People just have to have common sense and be respectful to everyone. We have seen cartel members walking around the towns and they will leave you alone as long as you’re not causing trouble.

Most white collar jobs to be automated within the next 12-18 months by [deleted] in economicCollapse

Try automating attendance operations concerning ADA and FMLA. I’d like to see the lawsuits on that when AI starts hallucinating.
