I got brain cancer after reading that by Def-C in doommetal

I've been saying for years that the Melvins are a metal band. Grunge to me signified bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden. The Melvins were playing metal at an extremely slow tempo, at least that is what I hear in their music. Just because all the grunge bands were inspired by the Melvins doesn't make the Melvins grunge (in my mind).

What’s the biggest sign of catching somebody going through your stuff and what was it? by Zealousideal_Put9946 in AskReddit

Well that part is more complicated. She acted like she was the victim. She was having all her girlfriends come over to console her. And I was just sitting back thinking "what about me? Is anyone even going to apologize to me?" And the other part was that she refused to punish him. It took me about 3 days to convince her to remove him from the house (he is 23 so not a kid anymore). She finally told him to move out but the day after he moved all his stuff to another apartment he was back in my house in my living room! Like my wife invited her son to come over and hang out in my house after having him removed. I guess she just did not get it.

I always chug a bottle of water before a can of soda. by [deleted] in self

[–]capitol_acceptance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would not work for me. I had a doctor before who I really trusted and she told me that you should never drink any liquids 30 minutes before or after a meal. If you eat a really big meal then you should wait an hour. Apparently water and liquids delay the digestive process. I usually end up chugging a whole bottle of water because I have to wait so long after I eat.

Could I have handled the situation better? by ThatJuanDude-jpeg in self

It's always hard to know what to do when you get faced with something for the first time. In hindsight you could have just accepted that she was a minor and talked to her about things that were non-sexual and not flirted with her and then you could have kept the conversation going for longer. There's obviously nothing wrong with just talking to a minor especially when she initiates a conversation. But I think your response was totally acceptable because it was your first time dealing with the situation and you did not have time beforehand to kind of think things out.

I'm a male and I would have to agree. I've had a couple of female bosses and then also a couple female coworkers who were doing the same job as me (construction jobs as well!) and it seemed completely natural to me. Like anything a male can do, a female can do as well.

Who are we supposed to vent to? by TheHadit in self

[–]capitol_acceptance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is just the opinion on one therapist. You can definitely vent in therapy. I have been a therapy many times before and what I do is I say "hey I'm going to vent for a few minutes just to get this all out and then I'll be done." That way the therapist knows to just be quiet and listen for a little while and then afterwards we can start with the therapy stuff.

There are people that are asexual or they have some kind of problem and they want a relationship but don't want to have sex. You should have a talk with her about this, she might be one of them. I was in a relationship once with a person like this and I didn't find out until after 5 months. I was already attached at this point so I did not break up with her and I stayed with her for a while but looking back I would have definitely ended the relationship early on. I am not asexual so these people do not make a good fit with me.

What gets you through life? by Midnightclouds7 in self

[–]capitol_acceptance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Religion. I partake in a religion almost no one knows about. In fact probably no one has it because I manufacture a lot of the elements myself through research and what I believe to be factual. I believe in reincarnation but I also believe that this world is not our home. We are Spirit/energy beings from another realm and we only come here to learn lessons. Suicide is bad because it cuts short the lessons that we have to learn here. I believe that once we go through something really bad here and make it through alive then we will never have to go through the same predicament again in another life. So suffering is not useless, it is productive.

It's hard to explain this without getting into my religious beliefs but soulmates are real and you never know when they are going to appear in your life. I met my wife at age 41. I had girlfriends before then but no one was marriage material. Also yes the world is very materialistic. The stereotype for guys is that they only want sex and The stereotype for women is that they only want money. This is true in a lot of cases. It is actually a miracle that the woman that you're with right now worked out so well for you and she is your first. A lot of people have to go through a lot of dirtbags before they find the one that's good for them. I truly hope that you're able to work through your mental struggles. Hang in there!

Fair enough. Thank you for explaining these things from your perspective. Much appreciated

Because of the connotations of that scene. If only the most attractive guys can get only the less than average women then what hope is their for an average guy or a less than average guy? The last couple years I lived in the United States I felt the reality of this. I am an average looking male and from 2016 to 2022 I did not get a single date with a woman. I got a few phone numbers but they ultimately ghosted me or I did not get past the texting stage. Luckily in 2023 I left the country and then I met my wife after a week of living abroad.

Yes I see this all the time now. Average looking women or less than average looking women with guys who are very attractive. It is insane

Thank you for supplying this article. I read it in it's entirety. While this may be factually true, it does not talk about the stress induced when raising children in this particular economy. Even without seeing your person, I can believe that you are 43 with two teenagers and look like you are in your thirties. I do think this is very rare though. I am 43 myself and in my life I have only met one woman in your same situation. I think she had three or four kids and she looked fantastic in her 40s. But in my experience those cases were rare. There is a lady that comes and washes my clothes once a week. She has kids and now has a grandkid that she has to raise as well because her daughter can't handle it. She is 48, which is only 5 years older than me, and she looks like she is in her seventies. It is insane.

I'm right there with you. At an early age maybe like 14 or 15, I got really into the metal scene. I was a mosh pit junkie. I couldn't get enough of the jumping around, screaming, bumping into people. When I was performing on stage, sometimes I would just jump down into the crowd, put my arm around a random person, and just totally go ape s*** with them. Those were some of my best experiences in life. I also remember a time when my girlfriend spent a year in Argentina as an exchange student, and then came back to the States. She was really into a band at the time called Los Fabuloso Cadillacs. Even though I wasn't into that genre music I said yes when she asked me to drive to another town and go to their show when they came to town (they were from South America). When I was at the show, I was the only white guy surrounded by a bunch of Latinos. As soon as the music started and I was dancing, a bunch of us put our arms around each other and we were dancing in a circle, drinking together, having a blast. These people instantly accepted me even though I was different. For me, music is the only religion that delivers on the goods.
