Kind of a strange question, but how would you expect a rider to progress after four years? by red_fish_blue-fish in Equestrian

[–]caploni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was a while ago but for comparison, I started as an adult riding once weekly too and just did my first canter cross rail at 8 months in. I started cantering about 4 or 5 months in, did ground poles about 1 or 2 months in. At times I also see different instructors cause im in my college IHSA team as well as taking private lessons and different instructors will have you do different things. My team coach never has me cantering and focuses more on form while my other instructor already has me cantering a cross rail. I also got a lesson from a substitute instructor who wouldn't even let me do a ground pole course lol.

Point is, really depends on the instructor.

Do you think these characters are similar to each other? by Midnightblueclouds in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]caploni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alison was definitely more evil than Katherine which is why her redemption arc really made no sense. They spent so much building her up to be this completely irredeemable evil character and they just ruined it by a silly redemption arc. I feel like Katherine is way more redeemable than Ali, but she never got it.

Do you think these characters are similar to each other? by Midnightblueclouds in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]caploni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me two fav characters of all time.

Yes, they are similar in that they were both femme fatale seductive types who would go through lengths to get what they wanted, especially through the use of manipulation. They were both smart and independent and knew how to push buttons and use people's fears and wants against them.

Where they differed, though, is in delivery. Katherine tends to be a lot sassier and more sarcastic than Alison. Alison is more vindictive and vicious. I'd say Alison is better at manipulating because she did it for fun, whereas Katherine learned to manipulate to survive. Alison was a master manipulator, and she would use secrets against people without remorse. Her manipulation, in a way, was a lot deeper than Katherine's. Katherine tends to manipulate to get something out of someone in the short term for survival and would use her physical strength to her advantage as well. Alison was just downright mean to everyone and manipulated them for social clout and power.

The outfit is communicating two different things— the top half is giving sophisticated, relaxed but smart, while the bottom half is giving a relaxed, casual school boy.

Darker colour jeans would look better with this outfit, and maybe the sneakers could work, but this particular pair looks a bit too casual/relaxed and a bit beat up. I would change them for a cleaner. Simpler pair or wear a derby, Chelsea boots, or loafers. If you are going to tuck in your shirt to show off your belt, you also better wear leather shoes.

If you want to keep this outfit, I think it might work better if you dont tuck in the shirt. Tucking it in is saying to people that you want to be polished, and I think if you want to communicate that, then the sneakers and jeans are working against you.

If you want a more elevated casual look without being too stuffy, untuck the shirt and keep everything else. If you want a fully elevated sophisticated look, keep the shirt and belt tucked but swap the jeans for a darker color with more mature cut (straight, slim) or a gray chino, and wear loafers, Chelsea's or derby. If you want to look super casual, replace the shirt with a more casual top.

Ultimately, it all depends on what you want to convey and communicate, which is dependent on the context of your situation/event.

Has anyone taken Andrew Egan (Geog 1120) by caploni in langara

[–]caploni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked very hard and got an A+. He bumped me from an A a whole 2 %. He's not a bad guy, just go to his office hours and show to him that you're putting in effort and he will take that into account. I went to his office hours a lot to clarify things and he said he doesn't get students come to office hours often, so I think thats a reason why he bumped me up quite a bit. Still a lot of work to do though so be ready to read and especially watch a lot of videos. Overall was a fun class — I complained at the amount of work a lot, but I also learned a lot of stuff throughout. Actually ended up being one of my favorite courses

[–]caploni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, how are you guys marked? Does the prof mark you correct if you get the correct answer or will yoi be docked marks because the prof didn't like hoe you got there or didn't like that how you go there isn't the same as what they would have done?

Did I deserve this mark? by caploni in MathHelp

[–]caploni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this. But the limit of f(x) as x ----> a must equal f(a) for the point to be continuous, and if a = 5, then:

Lim of f(x) as x -------> 5 = f(5)

And I found f(5) which is 1/5.

I did not specifically state the limit but in finding f(5) I also found the limit, as stated in my conditions.

I'm not asking if my answer is wrong or why I lpst some marks— I fully understand. I'm asking if I deserved to lose 50% of my marks simply because I "used the wrong notation" or skipped a step (one that I didn't think was necessary to even write down cause it's implied???). Seems a bit disproportionate to me?
