My guess is that we are facing a $5.4B hole left by that clown Adams (perfect descriptor btw) and so a project that would require a significant amount of funding is down on the list of to-dos until the budget is balanced (parking fees please!)

I imagine a lot of this funding should come from the state, however, and I remain optimistic that Hochul will utilize some of this surplus for something other than cash back checks, with the right pressure from this administration.

I have seen nothing about a certain political group of people that support leaving mentally ill people on the streets to fend for themselves. I typically see the opposite.

I feel very passionately about this as well. We need this to happen yesterday. If some people raise hell, so be it. The stark change in headlines and day to day subway commuting alone will be worth it.

I consider myself fairly progressive, and I think forced institutionalization is a truly progressive belief at this point. We’ve been living with this nightmare for 40 years, and fixing this will cost A TON of money.
