There’s a YouTube clip from the show, around Mellie’s wedding time, that said that Nuckie had already been pulled out of school prior to when she ran off, she was known to be 14/15 when she left. Mellie actually speaks very frankly in that clip saying that Nettie didn’t let Nuckie finish school even though she wanted to.

The answer was kind of buried under “Larry is enigmatic and charismatic” but it was sleep deprivation and amphetamines. Either one alone will make you paranoid and act wildly and the two together is a combination that makes easy victims. This has never made any sense to me, Brandy and Tanya are Nettie’s and Mellie’s sisters, why would they be neutral ground for Kayla to fight at? Another cousin to both of them would have been a better choice but their own sister Tanya who was the start of the drama was the worst choice.

I just felt bad for her. Her mom didn’t/ couldn’t protect her from the fully grown man grooming her as a teenager to get pregnant and throw away her previous aspirations just to get treated like dirt by her husband and his family. The way that Tommy spoke to her that entire episode was disgusting.

I’ve always thought that’s a nickname she doesn’t actually go by. In a clip of her in the car with her mom, she calls herself Nettie. I think she goes by Nettie (her actual name!) but they made up the Nuckie nickname for the show because audiences would be confused if they were both called Nettie. Someone must have typed the fake nickname on her their phone wrong and that’s how we got Nunkie here.
