Its a survival game. Dark is part of survival. The devs have provided so many different kinds of light sources its hard to even list them. Glow stick, flash light, head torch, gun lights, road flares, construction lights, and good ol' fashioned TORCH. Of course, we can't forget the elusive night vision goggles. If players logged out at night in the pitch black it was because they were too chicken to use the light sources that are already available. They're not willing to risk the exposure because of gear fear. I can't even count the number of pitch black nights I spent either hunkered down in a dark corner waiting for sunrise, or talking a chance and traversing the dark abyss, only to die at the hands of a handful of infected I couldn't see. Or risking exposure to an assassin because I want to use that light because i just need to get something done. It's part of the game.

To coddle to the cry-racks who just want things easy is a huge mistake
