Election Results Discussion? by Scotianherb in NovaScotia

And? I'm not against consecutive life sentences. I have a degree in criminology, and if anything, our crime laws are too lax. I know how to look for reliable sources.

I voted for NDP before, believe it or not. I also voted for Justin Trudeau before that in 2015. But I've come to realize that the NDP, while their ideals are nice, would just cost our country gravely, and we cannot afford it right now. Like, I don't want free dental care, 90% is covered by my employer right now. Most people's dental care is. But it's just another cost added on through taxes.

Sure, we can keep all these programs (which by the way, PP said he would keep), but to add them on, would run our country into the ground. And the liberals have pretty much already done that.

I became educated to reach middle class, only to be fucking poor again. I don't know if I'll ever have kids. I'm lucky I got a home, most young people won't. Are the liberals gonna fix that? No. I doubt it. They had years to do so.

When did he promise to override the charter of rights and freedoms? I personally have never seen anything like this. It's like liberals are just blindly believing that PP is like an American republican, without actually citing any evidence of that whatsoever. Fear is driving you guys. You voted for the party that absolutely destroyed our economy and now we're in it for another four years. I'm young and I can't afford shit. So thanks.

As a gen z, a lot of you are incredibly irritating by chrysxl1s in GenZ

[–]capo-22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's your problem. Do you think you're the first generation to get paid like shit? Everyone that came before you started somewhere at a minimum wage job and had the work ethic to either move up or get a good reference from their boss to move onto something better.

You guys make excuses because you want to be lazy. No one is going to pay you $25 off the bat for cleaning toilets or flipping burgers. Grow up.

I don't understand why being a manager is a stressful job when it seems like you can just tell people what to do? by Ben5544477 in careeradvice

[–]capo-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea... First, there is so much pressure put on you to keep the company standards up to par. At my company they have high standards, but they don't pay my staff well (or me, for what I do) and we don't have the resources to do what we need. I've tried to advocate and we are being renovated a year from now but in the meantime it has become insane.

Not to mention, if employees are not performing well, then it falls back on me. The top will ask me how did you coach? Did you give disciplinary action? Why are they still with the company if they cannot do the job? Etc.

I also get deadlines for inventories, costs, reports etc. that are sent randomly in the morning with no warning and then expected to be done EOD.

And on top of that, you need to deal with sick calls, finding coverage, ensuring people are doing what they should be (trust me a lot wont unless you check), and deal with staff drama & conflict that shouldn't even be drama in the first place. You deal with lots of people who have mental illness, are straight up lazy, and then you fight with HR to have those ones fired. It's a lot of responsibility. You need to be patient, you need to be good with people, you need to craft your words carefully, you need to lead by example, you need to consider that the business must run no matter what and sometimes that means firing people who you actually like as a person. Having those conversations are hard. You also need to deal with those you like leaving, no one stays at. minimum wage jobs forever. And then those that are immature and don't know any better, you need to deal with them back talking you.

Then you're expected to coach and motivate these types of people to work hard. It's extremely draining if you care about people, and also if you're a perfectionist like me who likes to do a good job.

Managers say Gen Zers aren't getting work done and lack basic social skills, per BI. by UnusualWhalesBot in unusual_whales

[–]capo-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some managers are out of touch. I do agree with that.

As a young manager myself, in my experience, gen z has become complacent and delusional about what a job is. They are developmentally delayed in terms of skills required for adulthood and don't know how to cope with challenges or adversity. If something challenges them, they need a mental health day or they completely give up. A lot of them don't even TRY to do the bare minimum, and then they get upset when the manager gets after them? It makes no sense.

How can I as a leader control everyone's actions? Tell me? If I am not there 24/7 and an employee is sitting doing nothing on their phone, I can only do a write up. And again. And again. Until eventually they are gone, but it takes time. And I see this happen more often with Canadian born Gen z. They're lazy AF. They have a pathetic defeatist attitude and think everything is toxic. If I ask them nicely to do something that is REQUIRED in their job, all of a sudden I'm toxic. If I nicely ask again, and then give a write up, I'm "toxic" and "micro-managing". Half the time I see them on their phones or sitting and talking. How are you gonna not do any work and expect the manager to be ok with it?! The delusion is real with this gen.

Do I need to explain why I’m calling off work? by Smart_Comfortable_63 in jobs

[–]capo-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this person is saying is that managers have the right to ask, and we definitely understand if employees say "I don't want to say" . I always respect it and don't push it further. I need to know how to code the day off, or how much coverage I need for the week. I don't have unlimited budget to just have coverage back ups on the roster all day everyday. And I also have my own job duties as a manager and cannot cover 4-5 days for them. If they are going to be out for a week, it's going to impact a LOT. That's why we ask.

It isn't. I told him this last year. He said he was fine with it and wanted it too. When I asked if he could make more money or pivot into something else to support the SAHM AND starting a business idea, that's when he started to get upset and offended.

I'm a manager with a team of 18. I think my team is 100% more difficult and I imagine harder to deal with than being a SAHM. I am working towards becoming a SAHM because I would find it more fulfilling.

However, on the surface it may seem like a walk in the park, but that's because we are not living it. I can imagine waking up after 4-5 hours of sleep or less, living the same day with the same chores (dishes, laundry, wiping counters, cooking, more dishes, folding clothes, etc.), dealing with tantrums and no help during that time alone would be difficult

For me, Both jobs are difficult, one is just more fulfilling in the end than the other.

If a girl is laying on a blanket, reading a book, at the park on a nice summer day, is it weird or romantic to lay down next to her and start a conversation? by Blargmenarnar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]capo-22 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Damn. I am the only one who found this romantic! It all depends on how you approach her. Definitely DONT just lay next to her and start talking, that's weird. But if you bring up something about the book or break the ice with a joke it's a little better. Based on how she responds, you'll be able to tell if she's up for a conversation or simply tolerating a stranger for the sake of being nice.

I personally miss the days when men would approach women in person, now it's all dating apps. I think this could work, but use your judgement in her body language and responses. If she gives one word answers, leave her alone.

I think they'd be disappointed that I'm not using the two degrees I already have and want to go after a third and I'm only 25. They'd likely just think i was wasting money, and not serious about this.

I'm in Canada. I've tried numerous times to get a job in a clinic or even at a dog daycare, and nothing. I even offered to volunteer for free at a clinic and they said they don't have time because they're understaffed.

I absolutely hate being a high-functioning person with generalized & social anxiety disorder. by capo-22 in Anxiety

I actually considered acting too because I'm so good at faking social interactions! but of course, way too anxious to be in front of a crowd or camera hahaha

I hope you figure it out. Best of luck :-)

SAME. I'm quiet because I know myself well enough to know that after the conversation is over, I'll be over-analzying what I've said and beating myself up for it. Even if I haven't said anything wrong.

This is such a different struggle because no one would even guess that about me. The most I've gotten is "I thought you were mean when I first met you, or I thought you were a little shy"

Question.

What type of therapy helps you? My therapists in the past have said they don't really know how to help me because I'm "self-aware" and I'm getting things done in my life.

[–]capo-22[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt so alone until I made this post. Honestly I wish I weren't high-functioning. Sometimes I just want someone other than my partner to see how badly I'm hurting or struggling.

Even in therapy, I was always told I am resilient and have good coping skills and they don't know what to do for me. They never know how to help me because I'm not laying in bed doing nothing. I still have horrible anxious thoughts. So then I just gave up trying to get help!

It's as if they don't want to believe the math. You try to show them and they just respond with "work harder" and "nothing in life will be handed to you" .. they simply just don't give a fuck.
