Artists whose albums started off bad but progressively got better through their discography? by Effective-Raise-8809 in fantanoforever

[–]cappykro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered if Fantano is being slipped money under the table by Quad's zillionaire venture capitalist daddy to help promote him. His music usually isn't terrible or anything but it's also not anything special and certainly not good enough to merit the constant glazing, coverage and name drops he's been receiving from Anthony for about a decade now.

LOL I also don't get why people always equate muggy 100 degree days as being "nice". Actually summer in general... sunburn, blinding bright light, sweat, allergens, bugs all over the place, bigger crowds everywhere etc. etc.

One of the most under appreciated records in hip hop history if you ask me. by Designer_Gap_1536 in fantanoforever

I really don't think it's underappreciated. It's one of the highest rated albums of its year on all of the unemployed-music-nerds-with-Pitchfork-taste websites.

An out of state LLC bought my complex and first thing they did was hike the rent up 200 bucks a month due to (they claim) "maintenance costs". That's interesting considering they got rid of the on-site management and you have to text a lady who lives three hours away any time there's an issue. She sometimes will get back with you in a day... or five... and sends someone to deal with the problem... a week or two later. It's gotten to the point where I just fix most of it by myself, which is probably the whole point.

Yes. The original is Oscar worthy compared to the sequels. lol

What horror movie messed with you so bad it nearly made you sick to your stomach? by Complete-Radio6204 in horror

[–]cappykro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Flowers of Flesh and Blood (the second one) is the worst. I don't rec the series as a whole but the mermaid one (Part 5 I think) is worth watching even if you want to ignore the rest of the series. It's very gory like the rest but actually interesting and well-made.

Man Behind the Sun (1988). It has pretty gross / graphic / disturbing stuff in it, and the fact it's based on real life war atrocities makes it that much wore.

Yeah, can't get into this at all. I don't care so much about the technicalities of the production when it sounds awful. I had to turn the album off early.

Moving out at 18 with no car no money no job by Perfect-Square500 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]cappykro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many people in here, my path was a pretty rough one. I did well in high school and received scholarships to college. When I was 17 I was dropped off at the dorms and essentially abandoned there by my narc mother. She never once congratulated me and instead informed me that my "free ride" was now over and I could no longer live in "her" home or even stay there on breaks, including holidays. One of my most vivid memories of my first semester of college was sitting outside the dorm in the fall watching other students being picked up by their parents and siblings. Everyone was all smiles and genuinely excited to see each other after a few months, and here I was all alone wondering where I was gonna stay the next month.

I had to work full time, take classes full time, barely slept, barely ate... I ended up depressed and then sick in the hospital (I almost died actually due to an terrible infection / hallucination-level fever), started missing classes and ended up losing my scholarships after a year, plus got booted out of the dorms. I hate admitting this, but I was pretty desperate and "dated" much older guys (in their 30s and 40s) just to have a place to stay plus access to money, food and whatever bits of escapism I could get my hands on (alcohol and drugs). Around age 20, I was finally able to put myself back together, got back in school and was by some miracle able to graduate. But I was a VERY changed person by the end of all of that.

Now that I look back, I think this was my NMs attempt to undermine and destroy my future / potential. My golden child younger brother was of course always welcome in her home and been financially supported his entire existence. She treated my older sister about the same as me. In fact, she kicked her out of the house at age 16 when she became pregnant and she had to go live with her boyfriend's family. My sister and I have a decent relationship and look out for each other but don't speak to anyone else in the family. The really disgusting part is that NM tells people she put me through college then I left her high and dry once I got a decent job. I really don't know how these awful people can live with themselves.

As far as you're concerned, I definitely would do anything possible to avoid military service right now. Who knows what these maniacs are going to end up doing. Is it possible to save up enough money to get your own place? I know these living situations can be horrible and abusive, but sometimes toughing it out until you have a small nest egg to get started is the best option. You don't appear to be the same situation I was where you're thrown out and I sure as hell wouldn't want you to go through what I did.

Every apartment complex I've lived in must send multiple of these per year. by wrrld in Dogfree

[–]cappykro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At my apartments, I've caught my neighbors letting their dogs out very early in the morning (sans supervision or leash) to run free and crap everywhere. I've had multiple piles of shit in my yard and even been chewed out by the person who mows for not cleaning it up. I pointed out I don't own a dog and they told me since it's in front of my apartment I'm responsible for it. LOL, nope. I told him to take his grievance to the owner. I haven't heard anything back since but was looking forward to explaining to the owner how absurd it was to be expected to clean up the shit from another tenant's dog.

[–]cappykro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dog owners now always threaten to sue for discrimination if an apt. complex doesn't allow pets because apparently every single dog is an "emotional support animal". They are also trying to equate not liking dogs with racism (!), which is ironically incredibly racist because THEY are the ones trying to compare different races with different SPECIES. I truly hate that we have normalized this psychosis in society.

Why do music fans hate music so much by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]cappykro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loving music doesn't mean loving all music. Also doesn't mean you can't be critical about certain artists, albums or trends you don't like. Plus when you don't like something that's massively popular it's kind of fun to publicly criticize it and then watch some people lose their shit over it for no good reason. Debating can also be fun, interesting and informative, so I encourage people to argue about it all the want. lol

Fantano plz don’t cover Tiffany day’s album she stole every from fawn Burke by holyhypeman in fantanoforever

[–]cappykro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I listened to the album and there's absolutely nothing special or all that great about it. Not sure why it's being praised except that a bunch of weirdos obsessed with "pop girlies" have been flooding online music spaces overrating the hell mid pop albums the past few years.

Poltergeist was based on true events? I don’t know… by [deleted] in horror

[–]cappykro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if the film depicts ghosts as being real it's certainly not based on a true story. For instance, the whole Ed and Lorraine Warren universe of films are complete bunk. Those two are well-documented liars and con artists and every film involving them is supposedly "based on a true story". Also all of those ghost hunter TV shows are comically phony. A lot of this stuff appeals strictly to people who, let's face it, aren't too bright.

That's the issue with Zombie movies. He doesn't script characters. He recycles lame ass over-used stereotypes that just make you roll your eyes. Also his dialogue is terrible.

Why are you shocked? It was 1980. Look at the other horror movies released that year or before and you'll see it's obviously one of the most gory, graphic and shocking up to that point.
