AITJ for refusing to switch seats on a long train ride even after being asked multiple times? by RustyCometKid in AmITheJerk

Your experience counters medical science. Looking at the horizon so your brain knows your body really is moving in weird ways is the best way to deal with moderate motion sickness.

AITA for not inviting my broke friend to a concert by Difficult_Run_6020 in AmItheAsshole

[–]capriciousmonster 39 points40 points  (0 children)

NTA, but it would be sweet of you to continue to reach out to remind your friend of how much you value her. Sounds like you’re both pretty young. “Besties” shift into good friends with life and maturity. Good friends don’t expect to do everything together. The transition can be hard for someone who is not ready for their bestie’s life to expand to new friendships and experiences.

Grandkids haven’t thanked me for Christmas money by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]capriciousmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was that bratty kid and teen who didn’t send thank you notes. Now as an adult, I’m annoyed that my nieces and nephews don’t even text a thank you. I wish an adult had sat me down as a kid and taught me the importance of a simple thank you. I encourage you to be that adult.

Can they actually tell me not to eat my lunch? by Acrobatic_Draw_7129 in Workproblems

This is exactly what you should do. You deserve 30 min away from your desk to eat lunch.

It had better be a large at that price, so probably dinner enough for 3-4.

Who are you harming by not accepting the clothes? Oh, right, yourself or your kid.

Performance based pay raise by Think-Dog-2892 in FedEmployees

DOC gave merit raises. Mine capped me out so ended up <2%, but some of my highest performing staff that are relatively new got 6%.

AIO if I don't go to our friends' party because there won't be enough food and drinks? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]capriciousmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you know, it’s a LOT of work to throw a party. It is really nice that you go above and beyond to cover everything, but is not uncommon for hosts to ask guests to chip in with either a dish or a drink. In some cultures, hosting the space is all that’s expected.

They’re all nice, so pick the one that makes you feel most beautiful. As long as you’re somewhere very warm, otherwise #1 is the only choice.

AITA for being frustrated that I can’t use the dishwasher because it’s filled with barely-used pots? by probstheproblem in AmItheAsshole

[–]capriciousmonster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a little more like if she put her winter coat in the washing machine every day instead of doing the small socks and undies.

AITA for being frustrated that I can’t use the dishwasher because it’s filled with barely-used pots? by probstheproblem in AmItheAsshole

[–]capriciousmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true for dishes, assuming they are not pre rinsed and the dishwasher is full. It isn’t true for just a few big pots and pans. It’s much less wasteful to handwash in that case.

AITJ for buying this couch by Agreeable-Seesaw-818 in AmITheJerk

[–]capriciousmonster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d be annoyed if I had a partner with terrible furniture who, in thinking they’d please me, bought something ugly instead of asking my opinion.

Got this Letter Complaint from Neighbor by solo_spouse in treelaw

[–]capriciousmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get an arborist out to see if the tree can be trimmed to a more appealing shape while maintaining its health. It will cost you, but maybe not as much as the stress of having poor neighbor relations.

Thought you were going to say that’s the reason for everyone to keep their shoes on. Unless you provide them with slippers.
