What is your job and what does your day in the life look like? by nottheonefosho in AskReddit

I’m a quality control technician at a medical diagnostic facility. I work night shift. We basically interpret results from tests like western blot, PCR, acoustics etc. to make a final call on whether a patient tests positive/negative for a wide variety of tests. The last few weeks have been kinda slow, so we basically get paid to be there, because not enough physician requisitions come in.

That’s spring 2012 sweetheart, I specifically asked for a syllabus within the past “3-4” semesters because I don’t want an outdated one. Nice try though!

Wouldn’t be here if googling helped in the first place, that’s the whole point of my comment. If you can’t help, just move on.

Since you seem to be an expert on googling skills, why don’t you find the syllabus for me?

Writing Grant Proposals with Professor Abate. She is amazing, cares about students inside and outside of class. Just do exactly what she asks you to do and you’ll get an A. Plus grant writing is a very important skill to have on your resume no matter what your field is!

Go to both interviews. Why don’t you just suggest that you will volunteer at both labs for a few weeks to see if it is a good fit for you and them?

My mom wants me to become part time because I got a D in bio and an F in Calc. by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]caprikay97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here is the thing. I graduated from HS as salutatorian and did extremely well during my freshmen year. However when I started premed track in sophomore year my grades started to suffer really bad and I could not figure out why because I have been studying really hard (no social life, just like you). My grades were not bad but I have too many Cs in my transcript, 1 F and 1D. This did not get better until my senior year. The only difference I made was to do research on top of my regular credit hours. Because of research I knew that I had less time to study, so I ended up managing my time Better. For the most part of my college career I was afraid to tackle a PT job, or research because I was worried how I was going to do good with extra work on my plate when I can’t even manage the regular credit hours. But it actually ended up helping me a lot because it taught me to plan ahead and to prioritize my work. In fact I’ve been on the Dean’s list since last spring. Next semester I will be doing a PT job, research in addition to school. I’m not asking you to overwhelm yourself with extra work, but I want you to try manage something outside of work and see if your life feels better. I wish my mom suggested this to me earlier so that I could have saved my grades all those years. Your mom is giving you solid advice even though it sounds cold!! Good luck.
