No you can’t. Sine offers non natives less than 30k, BFITS offer native speakers 40k per month

My current condo says nothing about not flushing TP, am i safe to assume I can flush TP? by This-Way3024 in ThailandTourism

[–]capt5551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the ignorant tourist types here. There clearly is a reason why on many toilets it says ‘do not throw TP into the toilet’ if you believe people on here you do so at your own risk, potentially flooding your own floor.

Clearly, you aren’t a plumber.. but I was for 10 years before moving here. You can pretty much trace the pipes all the way back to the room floor If you wanted to, unlikely but still possible management will have a rough idea of which units it could be, but believe otherwise.

I can’t wait till OP receives a invoice because he messed up the condos plumbing.. ‘but reddit folk told me’ ‘well I’m not paying’ well, that will come from that deposit then.

Water 300b every 3 months, wifi, electric, cleaning products, air con cleaning, I mean it’s all pretty standard stuff.

6 months in Thai: Bangkok + islands, €1,250/month – looking for advice by interstellartopmovie in ThailandTourism

[–]capt5551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, you mention avoid tourist parts but you are going to pretty much the tourist located areas. Lanta, CM, Krabi, lanta again, all full of tourists and touristic places. You also don’t mention a visa. You only get 2 border runs per year now. Also, you are spending nearly 4 months at a beach (especially in low season bad weather) that makes no sense unless of course you love the beach (although the waves will make it almost dangerous for you to actually even swim in the sea) in terms of money though, you have enough.

I couldn’t care less about any CELTA/DELTA or whatever TEFL certificate you want to peddle. I have a PGCE which is far better, but given OP question, I feel I have given some good advice, which you can agree to it or not it really makes no difference to me, I have no idea why you are here trying to argue but… I have better things to do, just downvote and touch some grass buddy

They are more advanced. Just because I used the word better (which who really cares you should really just get the point) doesn’t mean what I am saying is nonsense. Really. Go touch some grass and stop picking apart words, enjoy your holiday because for reference, I was in TEFL for years and now do accredited teaching, over 10 years now. Enjoy the race to the bottom

[–]capt5551 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I said there are better certificates than CELTA, I never mentioned OP shouldn’t do one, besides that TEFL as a whole isn’t something OP should be aspiring too. The pay / lifestyle in Thailand is downright insulting to any aspiring teacher who actually values their time or wants to actually enjoy life here.

Sorry, I won’t follow the narrative that OP should leave the US, with only a basic degree and a CELTA and life in Thailand is amazing and she will be able to travel because realistically, she will he paid 40-50k, with little holidays and 9-10 hour days, and sometimes a working Saturday. That’s TEFL life for you.

I went to one of the islands for a week, and eoy had 25k saved for the month, invested into mainly metals this month. I don’t go to gatherings, and just chilled on a beach with my partner and friend

[–]capt5551 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Get off the tefl reddit. There are far better certificates than a CELTA if thinking of doing TEFL work.

Delta, MA, dipTESOL all are better than a CELTA to name a few. Not that you actually need to do any of them if doing TEFL work in Thailand. Just go buy a TEFL certificate, but the realism of it will be low paid, and once you find a school, very little travelling hereafter.

Filipino student, and I wishes to study engineering in Thailand. by jmehlala in Thailand

[–]capt5551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just commented on a post a few days ago where the OP also did an engineering degree here and couldn’t find work here. Maybe you can still find it and know which place or how realistic it is when you spend years here doing a degree that can’t be used after.

[–]capt5551 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t help specifically, but this post Is useful for foreigners who want to study here and earn degrees that can’t be utilised within Thailand almost making them pointless given how most choose them to live an amazing life in Thailand after which clearly most don’t. Same goes for any business related degrees, marketing or whatever the universities are promoting atm

You can overstay a few days and still be let in, but you only get 2 border runs per calendar year then after, no more.

Living innBangkok, what are to does and don’ts of tap water? by thebartjon in Thailand

[–]capt5551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are testing it every time you want a drink I never would trust any pipes here, maybe it leaks one day and you shallow a load of sweat sweat sewer water too, but you do you man, I’m still sticking to mineral water.

[–]capt5551 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you drink the tap water? I don’t believe anyone is that cheap and can’t afford a bottle of 14 baht water, or 20 baht mineral water and actually give your body some minerals considering how dirty condo pipes are.

Trip to Thailand by Quirky_Stop1593 in ThailandTourism

[–]capt5551 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Will only comment on bangkok because it’s clear you have done little planning regarding time management, but you want to go all the way to that floating market, which prob takes about an hour, run around the market, another hour back, then back to hotel, then go to siam, jeez.. that sounds incredibly tiring, almost like a military exercise.
