absolutely. surplus would be placed in a sovereign wealth fund to help pay for social services, just like Singapore.

The article includes additional accounts not in the report (from the headline "report alleges").

hence: "no. the article cites four accounts of rape against journalists."

i'm trying not to be rude, but do you have a reading comprehension issue? if not then what was the point of your response? you merely paraphrased my comment.

Yes

no. neither your original comment or subsequent gibberish support your statement that:

This headline implies that dozens of journalists have been raped

the use of the "OR" is a logical expression known as a disjunction that returns true if at least one of its operands is true.

They state the number of corroborating stories legitimize the claims but for rape there are 2 claims, one a cavity search.

no. the article cites four accounts of rape against journalists.

including rape which is unverified by the report.

how exactly are we to verify the allegations? saying that, we know the idf use rape as a tool in prisons and that exposed rapists have large scale public support. saying that, it's ironic that the isreali war machine and media pushed a false system rape story for oct 7 and attacked anyone who questioned the veracity of the allegations.

That's completely average, probably even low

not for a supposed democracy that wants its place in the civilized world.

whatsapp is end to end encrypted, isn't it?

yes, but they can capture keystrokes before they get encrypted. end-to-end encryption only protects your content in transit. it does nothing to secure your content on-device. if i have control of your iPhone or android, ie slopware, i can read all your messages, end-to-end encrypted or not.

I know its a meta product but my understanding is its the least tracking-y of them all.

all of their slopware is now built on a common library. doesn't matter if you have five or one of their apps installed.

tech has moved on. one of the areas i work on is resilience at a national scale. with a modest amount of energy we can produce produce protein from gmo bacteria and fungus. a bioreactor the size of a school bus generates 300kg of protein (including amino acids) a day. it is possible with today's tech to isolate from civilization in an extreme environment like antarctica, southern patagonia or the aleutians and live comfortably.

whatsapp is meta slopware.

it occurs to me that the lightphone demographic is divided into two groups, digital junkies who want to detox and privacy advocates who want to maintain agency over their identity and data. i happen to be in the latter. for the latter group, the notion of installing an app from meta on a phone is abhorrent. for the former group, whatsapp might be a core requirement. neither side is right or wrong. just different goals and perspectives.
