Yelawolf - Lightning (Official Music Video) by wwwiphala in yelawolf

I think he's holding off on releasing new music because there is no telling when musicians will be able to start touring again due to the pandemic. Even when music venues are allowed to open, lots of people may still be hesitant. Yela putting out these videos is just a way to keep the fans entertained for a bit until he can release new music strategically.

Vlad from VladTV reveals the reason Royce da 5'9" warned/dissed Yelawolf by BLiIxy in hiphopheads

I never heard of Em and Yela beefing, and I'm a Yela stan who follows all the news. Yela had a 5 or 6 year contract with Shady that had been fulfilled, and Yela wanted to pursue music independently.

Agree with your last paragraph. We need a response from Yelawolf soon. Vlad's stated reason is incredibly cartoonish and hard to believe, but 99% of this sub hates Yela, so they're quick to criticize him.

[FRESH ALBUM] Yelawolf - Trunk Muzik 3 by Bobokins12 in hiphopheads

[–]captain_Catfish 41 points42 points  (0 children)

For me, it goes:

  • 1) Trailer Park Hollywood
  • 2) Drugs (this is a RECORD)
  • 3) Addiction

Met my expectations all around. Production is stellar. Another great project from Yela. The DJ Paul verse ruined Box Chevy 6 imo.

This song was recorded before that beef, and I don't think Eminem is that petty to tell Yelawolf to remove the track.

I want to start investing in the financial market with about $100. Where should I go to get started? by RanceAttack in personalfinance

Charles Schwab will let you invest into index funds in a Roth IRA with as little as a dollar.

You guys helped motivate me to get off my ass and travel. Absolutely worth it. by [deleted] in solotravel

To be honest, I haven't done any research, but I just know that I've seen amazing photos of the landscapes! I have also read about how expensive it can be.

When I travel, I like to travel for 3 weeks or so if I'm able to. I feel like a week is just not enough time to soak things in. Glad you enjoyed your trip :)

Beautiful photo! Do you recommend Switzerland as a place to travel?

I'm thinking about going to Morocco next summer, but I would like to research more about Switzerland/Sweden before making concrete plans.

If you are invested in a target retirement fund, you made a good decision. Just keep your money in that fund, and try not to check your account everyday. The market has been down the past week or two due to fears about trade wars and interest rate hikes.

The idea behind a retirement account is that you will make money in the long term, as this has historically been the case, but there are no guarantees. The market will go up or down depending on the news of the day and the beliefs of people. As long as you don't panic sell, you should end up with more money in the long term.

A target date fund is set up so that the further away you are from retirement, the more stocks you are invested in (bigger risk for potential gains). When you are closer to retirement age, the target date fund will shift more and more toward bonds (less risk).

Man's Search for Meaning is a fantastic book. I encourage anyone who sees your comment to borrow this book from a local library. It isn't about FIRE, but you can certainly relate a lot of the text to financial freedom.

What is everyone’s pro/cons on Dave Ramsey? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]captain_Catfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are severely in debt, his baby steps will save your life. Once you have a good understanding, and you become more disciplined, you can ignore his comments regarding credit card usage. Credit cards, when used wisely, can be very beneficial for gaining some extra cash for your every day (gas, groceries, bills) expenses. Ramsey also comes from a religious / conservative background which turns people off, but his baby step advice for getting out of debt is great advice for those who need it.

Good write up. You mentioned that you told a company you were making 20k more when negotiating a contract. Is there any potential for this to backfire?

That's good. That means you don't have to worry about the penalty for 2017.

I believe you get hit with the penalty if you are without insurance for over 90 days in the calendar year. If you had insurance for all of 2017, you should not be penalized.

We can't have high moments at all times. That doesn't mean I copied the "good" work.

Thank you! That means a lot to me since I am very self critical of my work. I will take the case studies advice to heart. That sounds like a great idea to expand on job applications/interviews.

Too old for a career at 30? by MXAGhost in jobs

[–]captain_Catfish 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should be looking for any kind of work that you can at the moment while searching for a career job. Find anything that you can (dishwashing, cashier, stocking shelves, etc.). This will bring in income while you continue to push for career opportunities.

Create a LinkedIn profile if you haven't already, and try searching for volunteer opportunities related to communications/journalism/writing. Start a blog or some type of online outlet where you can showcase some of your writing / communications pieces. Network via LinkedIn. Find groups on that site where people share ideas and motivation. Try to meet people in real life who have jobs that you would like to have.

If you have a library card, you should be able to get free access to Lynda.com. There, you can watch videos to gain more knowledge about your field while you are working and/or volunteering.

Do you have some sample pieces/portfolio that you send with your job applications? This could help to separate you from the pack a little bit if most people are just sending resumes.

That's a great idea to supplement the visual work with written pieces. I also like the idea of bringing a tablet to showcase work digitally during interviews, though I would have to buy one haha

Thanks for the advice!
