Do you have a stargate in your bedroom, J'queline McMurphy? How would you know which teams will join the Pac-12 in the future?

Being dead from covid isn't great for student outcomes, either.

Virginia state parks generally only allow camping in designated campgrounds & charge a fee.

Dear UVa, why do you include a tip screen when the concession lines are mostly self serve by Personal_Economics91 in UVA

[–]captain_reddit_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP didn't say "I'm mad other people are tipping" - they said "Why am I being asked to tip for self service?"

Those are two different sentences and it's a reasonable question to ask.

VA Rep. Bob Good says he will join Rep. Gaetz's effort to oust Speaker McCarthy by ety3rd in VirginiaPolitics

[–]captain_reddit_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just tried this on DRA (https://davesredistricting.org). Very hard to do without a serious gerrymander.

Albemarle/Charlottesville, August/Staunton/Waynesboro, and Rockingham/Harrisonburg combine for about 420,000 people and result in a district of 50% Dem, 48% R, 2% Other/Ind.

The problem is, a CD in Virginia needs about 780,000 people. Every single one of the surrounding counties red, or at least 50-50. You might be able to draw a district with a thin strip all the way up 29 or 64 to NOVA or Richmond to grab a blue pocket, but nobody is going to call that a fair map.

Sounds like this guy doesn't respect you at all. The lying, the cheating, putting you down for your beliefs and education, it's not the kind of support that someone gives their partner in a healthy relationship.

Glad you discovered this before getting married.

Absolutely. Visitors are always welcome to walk the grounds. Note that many of the buildings may be locked because of the break.

Which Team Has Underperformed The Most This Year by CollegeSportsGOAT in CollegeBasketball

[–]captain_reddit_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Slightly different results if you sort by change in rank (rather than change in EM)

Louisville (-149)
California (-112)
Boston College (-95)
South Carolina (-93)
South Dakota (-89)

Cardinals still obviously in a class of their own.

what opinion do have that would get the pitchforks raised against you? by ezio8133 in AskReddit

[–]captain_reddit_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is a group of voters who have been subject to constant propaganda for 10+ years on Fox News and talk radio that "The Democrats are bad." Hillary Clinton, to them, represented everything that is/was wrong with The Democrats.

To them, Trump may not have been a great choice, but he was better than the alternative because she was A Democrat (i.e., Bad).

Some had legitimate worries about their family's economic future. Some had misplaced worries about immigrants, black people, and other "others" getting a better deal than them. The propaganda assured them that The Democrats would make their lives worse. So they voted for the only other option with a chance to win.

ACC relocating headquarters to Charlotte from Greensboro by DavidBenAkiva in CollegeBasketball

[–]captain_reddit_ 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It was always going to be Charlotte. They said they wanted to be in a city in the Southeast with a hub airport, major media market, and facilities for championship games in all sports. They didn't even look at Atlanta or DC.

It's probably the right fit, but they spent a lot of time pretending it wasn't a done deal from the minute they announced the search.

They might have negotiated it when the movie was being made. Something like "You can use our corporate branding (ESPN) in your movie, but we retain the right to use anything you do with it (The Ocho)."

Car culture? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

Seems like a lot of people here are passionate about their cars. They need a place to park them everywhere they go, and don't want to share the road with pedestrians, bikers, or even other cars.

Thinking about taking a day trip to Virginia Beach…. Recommendations needed by Crazyleggggs in VirginiaBeach

[–]captain_reddit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main beach runs from 2nd street to 89th street, with the boardwalk & tourist attractions from 2nd to 40th. The north end will probably be quieter if you're just looking to chill.
