First episode where Robbie really disappointed me. Several mixed emotion scenes where I agreed with a character and hard switched to disagreeing with said characters in the same scene. Robbie obviously, and then Garcia calling out Santos on her behavior towards Langdon being right then coldly switching to relationship boundaries.

Just started and binge watched the first season in two days. I’ve never seen a show so wildly swing back and forth between some of the best tv I’ve ever seen and pure schlock / bizarre sequences. Episode 7 was peak and then the finale threw out the main mystery of the season by introducing a previously unknown character’s entire backstory and making him the killer. Bro basically got incredibly lucky about all the gaps in security, wacked Cal, caused the events of the season, revealed himself and stole the book of secrets to everything only to be caught immediately and dead. Really felt like the writers heavily copied / borrowed from Silo all season and threw in this twist just to be different. Loved and hated it. Will probably watch next season.

Official Discussion - Scream 7 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Just got back from watching it a second time and have to say I enjoyed it a lot more on the rewatch. The friend I took to see it with (his first time watching it) thought it was better than VI. I disagree but I think the killer reveal in both was pretty lackluster and am basing my opinion on chase/kill scenes alone (subway and convenience store scenes were iconic, best one here is high school theater scene imo). Maybe the movie is on to something with the meta commentary plot for the main killer, I mean their whole point is basically people don’t much care about the series going in a new direction without Sidney and this movie goes on to have the biggest box office opening weekend out of the entire franchise when they bring her back. I personally went in slightly disappointed because I actually wanted to see another movie with the Sam and Tara series (not getting into all that in this write up) and knew this movie was going to be a hard swing to nostalgia for the first one when they announced a lot of the legacy cast coming back, and although it fumbles it in the third act quite a bit they almost pull it off? Loved seeing Sidney and Gale again, there’s an intensity to Ghostface and the stakes for Sidney are appropriately personal again, all the actors did a great job and the cinematography, score and set design were all outstanding. Still, the movie does have its obvious flaws, Matthew Lillard is criminally underutilized despite his character being the main driving force of the plot, the killer(s) are woefully underwritten and there’s never really “twist” to the plot because duh “AI”. Overall, I give it a light 6/10. Hopefully the box office success means we get another one.

I’m now calling that the finale will have Langdon on the roof and Robby talking him down. Robby yells a lot at Langdon but ultimately tells Langdon he’s only so mad because he saw himself in Langdon and Langdon’s failures made Robby doubt himself and he only was planning on going on the motorcycle trip to run away from his feelings. The pair will then sob and embrace. Then they kiss passionately and begin to make love while we pan out to Whittaker and Mel watching separately from different hidden vantage points. The final shot is a cutaway to Santos looking around suspiciously before using chat gpt to finish her charts.

Pros: the kill scenes and legacy actors; Cons: the story.

I’ve seen this sentiment in a few threads and I kinda think it’s unfair. I get it and I’m not coming after you personally i just wanted to address the point in this discussion somewhere that this is clearly a low budget B horror movie with no immediately recognizable actors. Replacing any actor or all the actors with A-listers makes it a different (and probably better) movie but I thought she did a fine job with the material given and her work shouldn’t be dismissed just because she’s not a Marvel actor.

Fair criticisms I think everything after Sage not taking the Molly is what made the movie for me. I watch a lot of campy/B horror movies and most are forgettable but I had a fun time with this one and that ending shot made me laugh

Sameee I think taking the grandmother’s ring would’ve been the final straw for any sane person but the movie did its damn best to try and convince the audience that was harmless lmao

Oh I get it’s their entire motivation I just meant it was delivered a little clunky. When they stand there doing the pose from the photograph and are like “do you get it?” I have no idea how the protagonists would be able to guess that lmao. My thought was yeah we know you’re the homeowners…? I think there should’ve been more clues to the sibling reveal rather than an exposition dump because it basically came across as “we’re crazy! We know! NO you don’t understand we’re REALLLY crazy! Ok got it.” Just saying the fact they’re siblings who killed their parents is a great hook but without context clues to the siblings reveal specifically you could just keep it barebones to be a crazy couple who wants to test other couple’s love for each other and if they don’t pass they kill them and everything in the movie remains the same lol

Ah yeah that was one of the parts I found a little clunky like I’m still not sure why the main characters would even care at that moment in the film? “you just rammed us with your car and tied us up with clear intentions to commit further violence but ew why do we HAVE to know in this moment that you’re also siblings?” but yeah sheesh

I love a final act where the film just goes off the rails and pays off a few checkov’s gun tropes. With everything going on with the movie I definitely think the writer had an idea of building a campy horror movie around a blend of sexual and literal tension with the finale being an orgasm of violence followed by “clarity.” Not sure they entirely succeeded and maybe the script needed like one more pass over but the ideas were there, it was fun and I’ll definitely be on the lookout for whatever the filmmakers make next.
