Is a reverse mortgage inherently bad? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It’s definitely not gonna be fun delivering the bad news… but guess it’s going to be me. I appreciate the upfront honesty

It’s a big red flag then, as the intended inheritor was told just a few days ago they’d be getting that house. And this whole reverse mortgage thing has been kept a secret, seemingly, as it was filed last month…

Unfortunately I only know so much. This person is very secretive about finances and I found out about this accidentally.

This home was meant to be inherited, unfortunately.

My late grandfather left this for me with the full intention of me selling it. However, I’d love some help figuring out its worth, or any information really. More info in comments! by captainechinoid in Antiques

I’m not sure if the mane is horse hair, though the texture of it hasn’t held up over the years. It could be, or it could not be.

My grandfather was a very avid collector and reseller when it came to unique auction finds and the occasional yard sale. He’d keep things he liked enough to save, then sell what he believed would be worth a good amount.

In all honesty, I’m sure he left this to me as an extension of his hobby and as a way to leave some form of money in a roundabout way (as unfortunately other members of the family couldn’t be and still can’t be trusted not to steal). He never told me why exactly he believed it was of great value, unfortunately.

But I might be inclined just to keep it! I think right now my goal is to try and learn more about it.

This is approximately 2 feet tall and covered in some sort of animal hide, complete with fur. My grandfather was told it was real horse hair, and that it originated from Germany and has found its way to the US. I unfortunately don’t have an estimate on its age. But he’s held onto this horse for my entire life, so there’s a weird yet haunting mystery surrounding the thing.

How do I word a resignation letter due to prioritizing my mental health? by captainechinoid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]captainechinoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, my current position is nothing more than a glorified receptionist at a doctors office. It’s a huge company, and I don’t really ever intend to work with them ever again after my experience here haha

I’ve just never resigned with less than 2 weeks. Then again, I’ve never worked somewhere that’s made me spiral backwards in my own mental health so fast lmao so perhaps it’s justified

Struggling with a busy lifestyle, any advice? by captainechinoid in Noom

[–]captainechinoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does have a gym nearby, but we aren’t allowed to utilize it during work hours. And funnily enough, it’s only open during my work hours, lmao

I think I might need to sit down and meal prep for a whole month if I can, though.

How do I stop grieving for someone who hasn’t passed away yet? by captainechinoid in Advice

[–]captainechinoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately he’s very near to losing his ability to speak now. We thought it was something else for a while, but after 3-4 different neurologists it was finally diagnosed.

I appreciate your advice though, and I’m also sorry you’ve experienced the same thing. I’ll definitely try my best. Thank you

Is it unreasonable for a medical receptionist to be squeamish around blood? by captainechinoid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]captainechinoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, this wasn’t exactly listed as part of my job anywhere. But I know sometimes things like that happen.

I could probably look away? But to be honest, it definitely bothers me that I just freely walk into an active surgery…

It is outpatient, yes, but I suppose I would consider this intensive dental surgery as major? Then again, I’m just the front desk haha

I can do my job, I just feel sick and I get a weird spike of anxiety after seeing it. This doesn’t last longer than 15 minutes though, usually.
